Thanks. My back is recovering now. I had a day's work yesterday and it involved driving
I've been wanting to drive again as well.
I'm off to see Alice Cooper this weekend and I have a date on Wednesday
It's a first date, so that means spending money, but oh well.
I've just been paid, more than I thought, so I'll be able to last this month at least before my benefits get to me. It's hard trying to move up in my career, there's a job that I'm hopeful for that I've applied for. They did email me back saying they'll let everyone know by end of next week. Which is more than most do!0 -
So another week being unemployed. I didn't even get a job as a Logger, which is what I'm trying to move away from, but have had so much experience in that role! Maybe my CV wasn't tailored enough towards Logging.
Had my date, went ok, although spent a bit too much money...
If I don't get a job soon, I may be stuck until January! I really don't want that to be the case. I just feel a bit useless not working. I'm trying to keep myself busy, but it doesn't always work. I've applied for jobs as soon as I see them and usually get my email sent within the hour or less of them going up onto this Facebook group.0 -
So I've got a job interview Friday
only 1 week in December and 5 weeks in Jan/Feb time, but it's something. I'm also getting paid my last wages from previous job tomorrow.
I've just bought a Christmas tree and lights, less than 4 weeks till I put it up! I'm excited about Christmas more this year, as I have no job to worry about lol.0 -
Some news, got a job for a week starting Thursday

Brilliant, tomorrow I have my sign on day at job centre, will need to tell them I'll need to sign off, then on again in a week! As well as having my interview for a job starting next month! And the pay of this job is more than usual
So I'm happy about that! £5 more a day than usual!
Christmas time may not be so stingy for me after all!0 -
So good day so far, signed on then off of JSA, work tomorrow! So sorting a few things out today.
I got a 0% deal on my current credit card with Natwest, just as my 0% expired! Still have £395 to pay off on it, but because my limit got increased and I have a credit card I'm paying interest on, I've transferred that over!
Just waiting for it to be processed now. I've also contacted HMRC about my tax refund that I'm due, and to check an ex employer who I received no payslips or P45 from actually put me through the system, and they have, so they're sending out a copy of the P45 or details from that job
, just need to contact job centre about how much JSA I received from last tax year and to send that off. Then hopefully £600 or so will come my way! 0 -
So I've been at this job now for 8 working days. 3 of them has been working from home, so save money on transport and buying food out! Brilliant. Also gives me time to do other things, like when I need a break from typing (I come on here and type.. hmm needs more motivation me thinks) anyway, I do other things like laundry or a bit of tidying!
Or like today phoning the job centre (finally) to get my info to send to tax office, it was quick and painless after I found out which number to phone! it was an 0845 number but the call was done within 2 minutes, which included going through the options!
So hopefully I'll get my tax refund of around £600 before Christmas
Which will probably go towards a credit card - or some of it to the South Africa fund for my brother's wedding, which has £100 saved so far.
I've also been offered another job, which sorts out Christmas and January, the quietest time of the year, and it's on a good wage too! Just thinking what to do between next week and mid December now! Hopefully I'll get extended again lol.
So good things so far!0 -
I still haven't received the letter from the job centre stating how much JSA I received in previous 2 tax years. Will phone them next week if I still haven't received it. So it doesn't look like I'll be getting my tax refund before Christmas. Oh well!
I got paid today (I think emergency taxed boo
) but I also got unexpected holiday pay from my old job of £300!
I have also done something that's totally not money saving and bought myself an iPhone on contract £36 a month, £99 up front charge. But I couldn't stand my old phone anymore, it's so slow. It's a good purchase, but it's costing a bomb, I got it insured for £70 a year, so not too bad. I paid the £99 on credit card, which I paid off today with my wages.
I have a day's work Monday, and I start my new job in 18 days. Looking forward to the money lol.
I'm putting up my Christmas decs tomorrow, I'm just about to go out and buy a few more things needed for it. I also need to renew my railcard so I can put it on my Oyster and get cheaper off peak travel.
I have also put some money into savings for South Africa - for my brother's wedding, it stands at £150 now. That wont get me far lol.
I'll be starting a new diary in the new year. Feel like I need to start afresh0 -
Started my new diary for 2013
