    hi everyone,

hi skintchick hope the bunion op goes ok and you are able to recover quickly.

Im still waiting to hear back from the hospital as well, i wrote a letter of complaint to the hospital on how the whole thing went at the last appointment but im still waiting to find out about the chromosone testing, they told me they needed to get back in touch with the lab and i have yet to see the copy of my blood results that i have asked for, lets hope the complaint letter might speed things up. I didnt want to complain but it is just gone on way too long and too much of a farce.

I hope you find out from your hospital as well really soon, things like this make the whole journey that bit harder sometimes. Are you chasing up the results or have they said you do have aps? i remember you saying that you had been told it was something to do with blood clotting?

just looked at my last couple of posts and they are so down, im feeling more normal than i did the week after having that appointment but i think its because mainly i just have to carry on with normal life while all of this is going on in the background. Ive sent my consent in for the camera scan so will have to see what comes of that but for the moment anyway im trying not to let it take over my life well not the whole time anyway.

    How is everyone else doing?

hi everyone, ive finally found out my chromosome results from my consultant after complaining and its really not good news.

I have something called a balanced translocation on the chromosome 13 and 14. It means I am ok myself but not when I try to have children. Because of my chromosomes when I try to have children I either make a balanced chromosome baby who will survive pregnancy and after or I make an unbalanced chromosome baby that will either be miscarried early (which I have already had 2), miscarried later or even born and the dies or is born severely mentally or physically disabled. It also explains the molar pregnancy I suffered before as that was due to too many chromosomes.

it is really devastating news and im so fed up of posting bad news, I cried so much yesterday because the news feels like its so life changing and that ill never be able to have children on my own.
Even if we do get pregnant and it survives past 12 weeks it will need to be tested (which in its own carries risk of miscarriage) to see if the chromosomes are right and if they are not we would need to make a decision on whether or not to carry on with the pregnancy from then.

I cant seem to get it to sink in, we have been refereed for genetic counselling but the whole thing is just unbelievable at the moment.

I don’t know if its worth asking but does anyone know of anyone that’s been through the genetic counselling route or had anything similar and had a happy ending?

Im going to look for a support group tonight but right now it feels lonely to say the least.

I'm so sorry cleofish. I hope you are able to find others who have been in your shoes and can offer you support and hope. Totally different situation but I am a member of some FB support groups for an illness I suffer from and it is such relief to be able to talk with people who have gone through the same experiences and had the same feelings because even though other people can be sympathetic it is not the same as talking with people who know because they have been through it.

  • hi everyone,
thank you for all your kind messages, its still really hard for it to sink in and get my head around and at times i feel normal and then i remember. i think its hard because i dont feel or look any different and my brain cant understand then why i can just get pregnant and not have to worry and for it to be normal :( We have now be referred for gentic counselling though, not sure what the waiting list is yet but they said i can call in about 3 weeks so dont think it will be this side of christmas now, but perhaps that is a good thing, enjoy christmas and then start thinking.

Thank you susan for the link as well thats the one i found when i looked as well, ive joined and they seem really nice, lots of leaflets to look through so im going to try and read up as much as possible to find everything out.

sounds good that your not in pain skint chick after your op, hopefully it will stay that way, its quite a biggish op for the feet isnt it?

hey abis, hope your doing good as well? hopefully everything has settled down with your testing.
