It's not that healthy for feet to be cooped up in socks and shoes all day.

Nothing better than walking around barefoot, even better outdoors.

......so how do you equate this fact - which is oh so true - with your latest statement :-

How is it being hysterical to ask someone to remove their shoes? It's not all about germs, shoes bring in a lot of dirt as well.

Or don't bare feet bring in a lot of dirt too????:rotfl:

I think it depends. I take mine off in someone else's house.

A workperson should take theirs off, but granny or health visitor or relative isn't going to have been tramping all over the place outside getting dirty. If they HAVE then I would expect them to take them off without prompting.

For those that don't like shoes on carpets because of germs, where do you draw the line? Do you not have pets on the carpets? I would say an animals paws are likely to be far filthier than the bottom of shoes, not to mention animals sitting their bums on the carpet.

I prefer shoes to be taken off. Couldn't give a monkeys about germs but am being a lazy housewife and prefer not to have to keep mopping the laminate because of muddy footprints etc.

Not every pet has fur or is able to roam free though.

Don't have pets, but do not like being in a home with cats or dogs because despite the owners cleaning the house there will always be hair (and a smell).

Not everyone likes outdoor shoes trampled through their home. I don't think anything of not wearing shoes on the carpet and flooring, never thought some people think its their right to wear shoes in others homes.

Thinking sonething is a 'right' and thinking something is impolite/ inconsiderate/ illadvised or various other things are quite different!

So all of you wear your outdoor shoes in the house, regardless of your flooring type?

    How very queer!

I wear/ do not wear shoes in my house more related to what i a, dong and how mobile i am. If i am having a day when its hard to put on or remove shoes and i am wearing shoes that do not slip on and off, then i wear my shoes in the house. I prefer to be barefoot, but do have to wear shoes or boots for many of my daily tasks.

Atm i have builders in, for a long job. If they were to take shoes on and off everytime they went in and out the job would take longer, they would be less safe and frankly. I do not like those overshoe things, i tried some not to long ago and slipped quite badly, if you have ooor monilty this sort of thing can be felt more easily, but i thiink they increase risk usually but not always unnecessarily. E.g. I would and have worn them in a historic environment to avoid damage.
