Hi fortune lovely to see you back. Well done on the cycling! Sounds lovely particularly if you have somewhere local to go and ride that is traffic free (with a cafe too, that sounds just like my kind of place
)
Hope 2017 its lovely and kind to you and mr F, wishing you a very happy and prosperous NY. PF.0 -

Hi INOD - I've tried it before but make the cheese sauce differently each time depending on what I have in the fridge that needs using up eg mascarpone, double cream, etc. We quite like the recipe but it's not so good warmed up the next day.doingitanyway wrote: »A well earned bath. I'm dreading going back to the gym but am counting just getting there as progress. Baby steps.

Thanks Tcal. I'm hoping to do lots more as the price per ride is quite high at the moment :rotfl:PurpleFairy26 wrote: »Hi fortune lovely to see you back. Well done on the cycling! I have mixed feelings about this year. Mr F and I had some wonderful adventures but there were some lows as well. I think I need to reflect a bit to get some perspective. Also think about goals for 2017 which I'm struggling with. Perhaps they need to be shorter term for the moment.
Mr F isn't feeling 100% today so we are having a lazy morning. I've given myself a quick manicure, as my Christmas theme was chipped beyond repair, and am now sporting lime green varnish with a silver leaf effect on the tips  It looks very effective if a little unusual. Hey, why be normal when you can fabulous.
We have a low key New Year celebration planned for this evening which suits us just fine this year. We are staying over at some good friends and have planned snacks to use up the Christmas leftovers, some champagne and board games. Perfect and it gives me the chance to de-clutter four pates, a brioche loaf and some double cream.
I'm still intending to wear sequins and finery tonight though - I want to greet 2017 in style.
Happy New Year my friends in the box and may it bring you and yours health, wealth and happiness.

So I've had a little think and 2016 was a good year for us. We/I:
- met and exceeded our savings target
- celebrated a big birthday
- cruised the Mekong River on an amazing adventure which included lots of 'firsts'
- visited a World Heritage Centre
- flew in a helicopter
- drove a Segway
- had a short story published
- lost some friends and made some new ones
- met our contribution target for DS2's wedding
- made progress towards our contribution target for DS1's house purchase
- took tea at the Ritz
- retired... again
- increased our income through Mr F's new job
- had a family Christmas at home for the first time in 5 years
- bought a pushbike and rode one for only the second time in 38 years
and had many, many more smaller adventures from trying new things, like candle making, to visiting new places.
2016 has been an amazing year and I'm cross with myself now that I let it be overshadowed by the unkindness of others. If 2017 turns out to be half as exciting I'll be delighted. I'm going to start planning now

Happy 2017 everyone!
We had a lovely, low key celebration with our friends and it didn't cost a penny. We made a feast between us from the Christmas leftovers and Mr F and I provided fizz and ale from stores. We talked and played games and talked some more and at the stroke of midnight pulled crackers and poppers leftover from the Christmas table. It was just lovely
We stayed over and our friends provided bacon sandwiches (halloumi for me) for breakfast - Mr F was very happy about that because he doesn't get bacon at homeWe could have spent the day with them too but Mr F is feeling very under the weather so we have come home and are recovering in front of a blazing fire with our feet up. It's going to be time for a nanna nap soon
I hope you all had a wonderful start to the year. What did you do with your extra second? I gave Mr F an extra New Year kiss
