    Have a lovely weekend :)

Thank you Beanie - hoping to get the Christmas cake made :D

  • ... one day out, one day in.

I spent Thursday at home recovering from all the excitement of London. Finished the ironing pile and... the final week of the course :j

Worked yesterday but they only needed me for the afternoon and I'm off the hook for today :T It was a lovely last day - quiet and relaxed and lots of colleagues popped in to say goodbye. My boss bought me a little extra leaving gift of some boxed beeswax candles which smell amazing. So kind. I have an open offer of a job if I ever want to go back.

I was very tired when I got in last night and my chest muscles were sore. So a quick pasta supper and an early night. Mr F was away for a reunion so he was catered for.

A recovery day today and I'm hoping to make a start on the Christmas Cake. I bought all the ingredients weeks ok but haven't been well enough to tackle it before now.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

  • Ay up Fortune :hello: you really have been through the mill with that *bleeping* cough. And for the record, Greying was laughing with you, not at you........ :kisses3: :D

Can I ask you an 'art' question please? Do you ever have the need to use any type of spray mount adhesive? If you do, which brand do you use? Long, long time ago - when I had money (:D) I bought a can of *3 eM* adhesive that a) was brilliant b) went on in a fine mist and c) lasted for yonks. By the end, it had got a bit blotty and gummy, but considering how long I had had it........ I remember paying £5.99 for it - back in the day, which was a lot of money to pay to stick my amateurish daubings to bits of card. Anyway, I bought some spray adhesive from the W0rk$, a little while ago. It was only £2.99. I did wonder...... It has consistently been blobby and soaks through whatever you spray on, including quite thick card. These blotches don't then 'dry out', and so look crap. Any recommendations for a product that will give nice coverage, won't blotch nor blet, and is priced for what I need - ie if it is pricey, will it last and give consistency every time? = value for money spent.

Happy cake baking - love the scent of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger............. :D

    Hi Greying

I'm a 3 eM fan too. Expensive but reliable. Plus they do glues specifically for artists and for use on materials where bleed through might be a problem.

You might want to have a browse on the Curti$ Ward or Art Di$count sites. That will give you an idea of the ranges available.

  • The cake is made... I forgot to put in the black treacle... and the ground almonds :o

Google tells me that not all Christmas cakes are made with black treacle and ground almonds so I'm hoping it will still be ok. I shall make sure it's well fed with brandy to compensate :rotfl:

Mr F came home yesterday tired but happy so we curled up in front of the fire and caught up on some TV. He was planning to do some 4x4 stuff today but Storm Angus has put him off. Instead, we are going to try a new pub for Sunday lunch and pictures after :j The fun money is intact this month due to my incarceration so we can have a splurge :D

Ages since we've had a Date Day so I'm really looking forward to it despite the rain and gales!

    Have a great Sunday all.

I don't use black treacle in my Xmas cakes - I quite like the lighter look and taste :)

    Have a lovely day :)
