I'm off to work for the day today. There are some new staff who need training and I've been asked to do it. So a lovely task and all in the glorious sunshine - I'm quite looking forward to it :)

We've been given some wedding bills so I'll transfer money around later. I'll probably drop the wedding fund from my signature now as we've reached the target and will be handing money over in the next few weeks.

The house deposit contribution is the next priority so any daily/weekly savings are being channeled in that direction. I Tilly Tidied £3.30 yesterday and Mr F is going to bank the £26.80 from the change jar today so that I can transfer it later. All these little bits of money soon add up.

The next big shuffle will be on pay day when regular monthly amounts will be transferred for the house deposit, en-suite savings and mortgage over payment. But that's not for a another week yet.

I've planned a little spending today - contributions to social events and a quick visit to the garden centre if time allows. The activity in my raised bed has inspired me :o

Have a great day everyone and may the sun shine (not too brightly) upon you... must remember sun screen.

  • Hi,

What a wonder time you have been having - love reading all about it :)

I dont think I have the stomach for a helicopter ride.. brave lady!

I did have an open plan en-suite in the bedroom and didnt like it personally, so I swapped the swing saloon doors to a full door ... i prefer the privacy aspect ;) But it's all about personal choice.

Well done on achieving the savings and good luck with the next round :T

    best wishes

    Hi Tcal:hello:

the helicopter ride was surprisingly smooth. The pilot explained that we were chopping our way through the air rather than surfing on top of all the lumpy bits (technical term :rotfl:).

I'm hoping that an open plan bathroom will stop the room from looking too small but intend to have some privacy screening. We just need the extra facilities for when we have guests staying so will probably continue to use the current bathroom at other times. I'm going to get some designs done so I can see how things will look.

I quite enjoy having things to save for but we do seem to have had rather a lot of them this year! Amazing what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it though.

    Take care

Saw Mr F off this morning. He'll be in the States for a week now :(
I have used his absence to have an extremely lazy day. Not much has been achieved... not much at all.

I did transfer a few bits of money across to the house deposit fund which took me all [STRIKE]day[/STRIKE] of 3 minutes. And a few social events have been arranged to keep me occupied whilst he's away.

An early night is in order. Mr F doesn't sleep well in the hot weather and doesn't like to see me sleeping peacefully whilst he's struggling it seems! So I'm looking forward to an undisturbed night.

The weekend's here guys - enjoy!

There was a little bit more productivity in the Fortunate household yesterday.

Had a general tidy up in the morning and went into work for the afternoon.

I made Butternut Squash & Sage Macaroni Cheese for lunch with a butternut from the veg box and sage from the garden. We'd bought lots of specialty cheese from the Kent County Fair intending to use them up for DS1's birthday weekend but didn't get round to eating the one with chilli in so I added that to the recipe and it gave it a nice kick.

My new neighbours had a housewarming last night and provided lots of cheese and nibbles so I didn't have to worry about supper. I took a bottle of something lovely from the wine rack so a low cost social.

I am sad today though. A couple of wedding events have taken place and I didn't get an invitation to either. I'm the only one in the whole family who wasn't invited :( And I've not had a 'phone call or message to explain the rationale there either :( Wondering now why I worked so hard to get our contribution together :(

Thank you for my hug Beanie - I appreciate it. We've been so laid back about things and haven't requested anything except that Mr F and I sit together (muli-parent family). I am the step-mum but have always done my best to support them all. It's a strong message from the bride and I guess I now know my place.

I'll be following this advice in future - "Don't let people become a priority in your life when you're just an option in theirs".

  • Good advice but emotion can cloud the implementation. At least you know that you did everything that you could. On a plus side, at least you had the use of your time rather than having it dictated by someone with clearly suspect judgement. Take care

That's a shame Fortune when you seem to have done a lot to help.

Weddings are a funny thing and sometimes bring out the worst in people xx
