Ticked off everything on my job list today :A I have a plan for tomorrow too so am all relaxed about guests arriving.
On-line grocery shop arrived this morning. £15.97 over budget but I think that's brilliant considering we'll be feeding extra people for a couple of days. We are planning to eat out a bit though so that's where the cost will be.
Lovely fruit and veg boxes came too and no substitutions so the meal plan will go to plan this week :rotfl:
Mr F is due home at 7.00 :j so I shall start cooking supper soon. Gemolata-Crusted Salmon with Lentils & Spinach tonight. Not tried this recipe before so it'll be a little adventure. Need to use up some sulky spinach before it's beyond help :rotfl:
Might open a bottle of wine in a minute...
Happy Weekend everyone

Salmon recipe turned out well. Don't be shy with the horseradish - I thought 3 tablespoons was rather a lot but it can take it.
A couple of things I forgot about earlier. Both pairs of shoes fit well and my replacement wine glasses turned up today
Mr F is also home and ensconced in his chair with a glass of wine in hand
Now the weekend can really begin :j:j:j

We've had such a wonderful weekend celebrating DS1's belated big birthday (we were on holiday celebrating mine on the actual day).
DS1 and his girlfriend arrived on Saturday in time for a BBQ supper. They had celebrated a year together this week so we opened a bottle of champers from the wine rack to toast the occasion. The champers had been a gift at some point so no cost there.
On Sunday we took advantage of the good weather and managed to book my big birthday helicopter flight. DS1 came up with me as an extra birthday treat. The flight was a gift from my local friends so bought and paid for already. It was fantastic! And terrifying!
We'd met up wih some friends at the airfield so all went for lunch after. Mr F wanted to pick up the bill for all 6 of us as our friends have been very good friends to us recently. Still came in within budget so happy with that. Went home for a nap afterWell it was quite an early start and we were still recovering from the night before.
Today was the day of DS1's special birthday treat - he and his dad got to drive a steam train. Booked and paid for earlier in the year. Girlfriend and I left them to it and went off to get breakfast (it was another early start) and have a mooch around the shops. Girlfriend paid for breakfastand I only bought some groceries.
Went for a pub lunch after as a last hoorah before they had to leave and that came in on budget too.
We are at home now chilling and recovering and sad that it's all over. I am feeling very lazy so it may be leftovers for supper
We spent less than we expected to so I was hoping to make another OP to the mortgage. However, just when we thought it was safe to transfer the pennies again... they have started saving to buy a house. We have said we will match their savings up to a certain point so I'd better start another pot
And in case that wasn't enough, our next house project is to have an en-suite put into one of the bedrooms so I'd better start a pot for that too
What's that I can feel... oh, it's money slipping through my fingers.
All in a good cause though.
Hope you are having a sunny time

Isn't it glorious!
The garden is really benefiting from a dose of sunshine. I planted my raised beds rather late this year but there is lots of activity now the soil is so warm. I might be able to harvest something after all.
Having allocated virtual pots for the new savings I find I'm making good progress We have 5% of the house deposit fund already! Managed to accrue this by:- Tilly Tidying all the bank and savings accounts
- adding underpayments on fuel and grocery costs this week
- and totting up the change jar
We're planning to give them about 25% of the amount up front as we think seeing something in their savings to start with will be great motivation for them. Then we'll make smaller, regular contributions each month so that they can, hopefully, match them and see the savings grow.
After pay day I'll be able to make a start on the en-suite fund too. I already have some ideas and quite like the idea of open plan. Does anyone have an open plan bathroom in their bedroom? Any tips?
Courgettes will be featuring heavily in the meal plan this week. I bought some with this week's shopping and then was gifted another 3 by a friend. Courgette Mushroom & Mozarella Tart for lunch with salad. I made a yoghurt dressing too with leftover sweet potato filling from Saturday's BBQ. Supper will be Chorizo & Broad Bean Risotto to use up the broad beans that came in this week's veg box.
I am concentrating on getting the washing done today. It's a great day for it and Mr F is away on business for a week come Friday so will need some clean shirts. Plus it's far too hot to be getting the hoover out
Hope everyone's enjoying the good weather
