    A spendy day yesterday:
    • filled the truck up with fuel - £10 under budget
    • dropped 5 bags of clothes off to the charity shop
    • bought some LED lightbulbs - they're sooo expensive  We've decided to replace ours as and when our old incandescent ones give out. I hope they prove a worthwhile investment
    • replenished the medicine cupboard. All that travelling took its toll :o
    • picked up a couple of extra bits to make a curry. We've been invited to a curry party on Saturday night where everyone contributes a dish. Mr F is away for work but I've decided to go solo. Will take the cost off the fun money budget
    • met a friend for lunch at Leeds Castle followed by a lovely stroll around the grounds. Cost will come from my personal spends. It the first day this week I've done over 10k of steps (hangs head in shame)
    • Mr F came home last night :j so I made Creamy Tagliatelle with Fennel for supper. He's off on his travels again this evening so I won't see him for the next week :(
My acrylics arrived yesterday - that was quick! So I'll be able to have a play whilst Mr F is away. That should keep me out of trouble.

I have my first tour to do today. First one since we got back. It's a big one too. Nothing like swimming in the deep end.

Have a good Friday everyone - the weekend's here

  • Thanks for the recipe. I love fennel but am never sure what to do with it. Btw, what do you do with the other bits?

This was a really simple recipe but quite tasty - the trick is not to overcook the fennel so you keep some texture.

Other bits? Not sure what you mean by other bits.

It's Angkor Wat in Cambodia Goldie.

The Castle is looking really beautiful at the moment with all the Spring growth. There were lots of little ducklings around too

    A loaf day today:
    • tour went well - 4 hours added to my timesheet
    • left the last piece of quiche for Mr F to have for his lunch with some salad :p
    • I had a cupboard lunch made up from some leftover pasta and mushrooms
    • made a Mushroom & Potato Curry to take to the party tomorrow and pinched a portion for supper as Mr F is away again
    • converted my £on points for a high street voucher.
I'm working again tomorrow so that should help to swell the coffers :)

    Have a great weekend everyone

  • Settling in nicely now:
    • Work - I have lots of dates booked in for May already plus we have a meeting on Friday to organise diaries. Had a practise with my new acrylic paints. I love them! So much easier and quicker to use. You can see my first attempt on my FB page.
    • Social - the diary is filling up with stuff and I'm gradually catching up with friends
    • Fitness - booked in for yoga tonight
    • Other Stuff - went to Knitting Club last night and made good progress. No unpicking this time :T I think I must have knitted this item ten times over in total! I am starting to feel like a real knitter now though - I can knit and talk at the same time :rotfl:
Hope your week has started well

Hello everyone. What a long time since I last posted. Definitely time to review and refocus.

    Income
    • Mr F's salary and pension have increased :T
    • I am working steadily now we're in peak season

    Expenditure

    • Lots! We knew it was going to be a spendy year but many of the big ticket items have been bought and paid for now and things should start to settle down a bit
    • The income from my little job has covered all of my personal spending
    Focus
    • I'd like to start saving towards some house improvements
    • And just generally keep a closer eye on the pennies

A lily day tomorrow though. Hat shopping! I have an outfit for DS2's wedding in August already but need a hat and shoes. Wish me luck!

  • Hi Fortune Smiles,

Lovely to hear from you... how exciting - a wedding! matching hat and shoes... I think it was back in the 90s since I was able to wear both...I need a wedding to go too as I love getting dressed up for occasions :)

Enjoy your shopping and hopefully you will pick up a bargain :)
