Hiya :hello::hello::hello:
Once I bought a digital camera, the number of photos I took increased by a factor of about a thousand
And absolutely, a trip away isn't for writing, its for getting new material, hurray
I get emailed links for free kindle books, and one of them was the very simple story of an American who went au pairing in 1979 ... I could do that! Interestingly, she still works at promoting it, 5 years after she wrote it - this writing lark just keeps on going
When I first started writing I wondered if I'd have enough ideas but they just seem to keep coming. Being of a certain age I have plenty of past lives to draw upon too :rotfl:Goldiegirl wrote: »I posted a reply to this thread, but it seems to have disappeared - but the gist of it was welcome back, and I'd love to see your travel pics when you get a chance
Yay! Goldie's here too. Just been reading about your recent adventures - looks like you had a fabulous time. My holiday was a river cruise and my first cruise of any type ever. Think you're right, they are addictive - I want to do another one now :jhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6623005/happy-days-in-our-golden-years/p1?new=1

Mr F has got a bonus! :j :j :j We weren't sure he was going to get one this year. It's based on the overall company performance and entirely discretionary. Last year it was paid in March and, as it didn't appear in his March salary payment, we'd assumed it wasn't going to be awarded this year. I'm so pleased, he's worked so hard and deserves a pat on the back.
This changes the financial plans a bit, we'll be able to:- bring the rainy day savings back up to 100%
- pay the remaining 50% on my birthday jewellery
- buy a few gardening items we need
- put some money aside for wedding expenses
- treat Mr F! I think he should have something fabulous
- I managed to get all the remaining holiday clothes washed and dried on the line today
- baked Broccoli and Tomato Quiche for lunch to use up some of the lovely fresh green broccoli that came in my veg box this week. Mr F is away this week so that should see me through a few days
- found a new recipe for using up pastry scraps - Oat Biscuits. Really quick and easy and delicious. I've included the recipe below in case anyone's interested. Works for ready made pastry too
- broke the back of the ironing pile
- last night's Sausage & Bean Casserole for supper with mashed pots - yummy.

Oat Biscuits
Weigh the pastry scraps
Add the same weight of oats
Add half the weight of butter
Add half the weight of caster sugar
Mush everything up together in a dough. Roll out and cut into biscuits. Bake in the oven at 180 fan for 10 to 12 minutes.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6623005/happy-days-in-our-golden-years/p1?new=1

Gave our bedroom a good spring clean yesterday and discovered evidence of carpet moths under the bed  Some eggs and cocoons  The Dyson has never been worked so hard. I can't see what they've been eating though, there are no holes anywhere. Hope I'm not in for a nasty surprise sometime. So...
- placed an order with Lak£land for moth treatment plus a few items from my 'needed in the kitchen' list
- checked the veg box order and found that an item had been replaced (hate it when that happens). Had to add it back in as it's critical to the meal plan for this week - I'm now £3.24 over budget on the grocery shopping
- Quiche for lunch (again) and a cupboard supper of Pasta with stuff
- gave myself a little bonus (only fair if Mr F has had one) of an acrylics starter kit. Thought I'd give them a try and maybe paint some of my holiday photos.
Have a good day all
