  • In more ways that one! Another day spent (mostly) at home. I've had a little bug for the last few days and yesterday it gave me a horrible head. I managed to get a few things done but I'm not my usual productive self yet.
    • Mr F and I wanted to buy a physical wedding present for DS2 out of the wedding contribution money. Yesterday I found some very posh glassware which was perfect. It was reduced by 75% but, after a bit of shopping around, I found the same set with an extra 15% off and with a free gift. Result! So the glassware has been purchased and the free gift will become the start of this year's Christmas shopping
    • WI last night and I was down for the tea and cake rota. I took in a packet of Christmas biscuits hoping to declutter them but I ended up bringing half of them back home. Mr F is happy about that :rotfl:
    • made a Chocolate & Banana Cake to accompany the biscuits and declutter a couple of sulky bananas and some leftover cooking chocolate. Most got eaten but there are a couple of slices left over to tempt me. Mr F is happy about that too :rotfl:
    • WI was about 'Swishing'. You donate any unwanted presents you've received and people can then buy these for a nominal amount. Any money made goes into Branch funds. I decluttered a few things Mr F and I received but didn't buy anything. Having donated the cake, biscuits and some presents this month I thought I'd done my bit
    • Won the raffle - a bottle of wine :j I'm hoping that's the start of my 2016 lucky year and I have the winning ticket for the lotto tonight :rotfl:
    • reconciled the bank accounts. All adds up although there's not much wriggle room in there this month
    • made a PAD.
I'm delighted to say that a return to healthy eating has resulted in a 2 1/2 lb weight loss :T

    Happy hump day everyone!

  • I have given in to the bug and spent the day chillaxing so there's not much to report:
    • eggs baked in prosciutto for breakfast (will these deli meats never end)
    • salami pitta pizzas for lunch (apparently not)
    • Chorizo & Pepper Lasagne on the go for supper tonight to use up the remainder of the sulky peppers
    • made a PAD
    • didn't spend any money.
There's nothing spare in the current account and some big bills are due in February so our adventures are curtailed for the moment unless already budgeted for. I have a little spare in my own pot though so can stretch to a coffee or two with friends. There's plenty left in the wine rack too although it's been a dry January for me so far :A Let's see how long that lasts...

    Take care

  • Nothing much going on at the moment - bug has turned out to be sinusitis :(. It's not life threatening but is wiping me out a bit. Everyone writes off the first week in January, right?

I did manage to go out for lunch with a friend and run a few errands. They paid as I paid last time :T and my only other spends were a few grocery items we were running dangerously low on - down to the last toilet roll

The Christmas leftovers have almost been vanquished. I made Sticky Citrus & Mustard Glazed Salmon for lunch today to use up the grapefruit, lime and some of the clementines languishing in the fridge drawer. We are having a Ploughman's tonight to use up the remaining cheese, salami, quiche and pickles. As you can see, I have a never ending porridge pot of deli meats :rotfl:

Monday tomorrow. Let's see if I can get going again this week.

    Enjoy the weekend!

FS that link is for banana icecream which also sounds lush :T.

    I assume this:

is what you cooked? Sounds lovely - I might try it with grapefruit marmalade instead of the citrus and honey .

Thanks for posting the link - marmalade would work really well.

  • I'm definitely feeling better, much more energy today and a bit more accomplished:
    • booked doctor's appointment (just a review)
    • booked MOT for later the same morning. Garage and doctor are in the same village so it makes sense to do just the one trip
    • restarted work on my current commission
    • Vegetable Soup and bread from the freezer for lunch
    • demolished about half of the filing pile :)
    • Smoked Haddock Gratin for supper to use up the last of the crème fraiche and cream.
It's knitting club tonight so I should be able to finish my WI project there.

Mr F and I need to get back into a sensible routine re bedtimes. We've been going to bed too late which means half the morning is gone by the time we get up!

    See you later

  • Mmmmm - there's something strange going on with the forum today. I can't switch editor mode or edit posts without losing the text  Which means I can't post links either.

    Hope it gets fixed soon.

In the meantime the Smoked Haddock Gratin recipe is from BBCG00dF00d if anyone was interested.

Sorry, was just lurking through diaries and found your recipe for citrus and mustard salmon. My OH thinks it sounds amazing.

Glad to hear you are feeling better after your bug and sinusitis.
