Glad its been good, FS - are you going to enjoy the busy-ness too?

And I love the idea of picking up some apples this late in the year :)

Hello Beanie and Karma my old chums. How are you both? There are still a few apples clinging to the trees here Karma but the ones I picked up were leftovers from packed lunches. Waste not want not :rotfl:

  • It seems, in my haste to return to the fold, I posted too soon. Final MS efforts for the day include:
    • using up some sulky courgettes in a carbonara
    • selling an unwanted Christmas gift from last year on FB for £50 :T
Amazing what can happen when you refocus.

    Ooh that *is* good!

I'm good, ta muchly - not able to travel at Christmas to be with my mum, but retirement is getting closer and closer - under 40 weeks now - so I'm happy :) and I'll make it up to her in autumn and winter next year.

  • I can't tell you how good it felt to have the house to ourselves yesterday. I made good use of the time and had a very productive and MS day:
    • we had a very indulgent breakfast to use up some leftover ham, spinach and cream - Florentine Ham Grill
    • bottled 2 litres of Bullace Gin
    • bottled 1 litre of Cherry Vodka
    • made up 1 litre of Christmas Pudding Vodka
    • rustled up some Soda Bread for lunch to have with a carton of soup our visitors left
    • made up my Christmas Hampers ready for wrapping
    • engineer arrived to switch over our house alarm to a new company. Not a very MS decision but our old company was bought by another and I am very unimpressed by their service and their attitude towards customers. I'd rather pay more for better service with something like this
    • Christmas grocery shop arrived - 64p less than expected, a free paper and we got a great deal on a substitution too
    • Mushroom Stifado from the meal plan for supper and plenty leftover for tonight too.
Still plenty to do before the next set of visitors arrive. Better get on...

Hope you all have a great day

Oh my, the mushroom stifado sounds utterly amazing! And ooh, all that vodka and gin ... if you spell your posts right, I'll be really impressed :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Most if its for gifting Karma - honest :D
  • What a storm we've had today - wheelie bins have been making a bid for freedom and were last seen running away down the hill! It's driving the mice in too. Mr F found 2 deceased in the attic today :(

The storm made me feel very grateful for my warm, dry house which has stood solid through some extremes of weather over the last 10 years. The oil tank, cupboards, fridge and Christmas stockings are all full. Lots of blessings to count.

    Another productive day:
    • leftover toasted soda bread for breakfast with a Grapefruit, Banana & Mango Smoothie
    • wrapped all the presents
    • filled the stockings for Christmas Day
    • all bar one present delivered
    • pitta pizza for lunch (good for using up bits and pieces)
    • bedrooms ready to receive
    • leftover Mushroom Stifado with rice for supper.
I've still got a few things to do before I can relax and, Yikes!, only tomorrow really to do them.

    Stay calm Fortune, stay calm

    Good night everyone

    Oh my!

My wheelie bins were lined up against a wall this morning, not diagonally into the corner as they normally are. I wonder if mine had been making a bid for freedom and somebody popped into my front garden to ask them to be quiet? Hmmm ....

Counting blessings, as well as wheelie bins, is lovely :) Stay calm through it all, you're nearly there!

Hi, FS, good to 'see' you again

It's been very windy recently. We bought a new bird table this year, with small 'holes' so only smaller birds can go in. Trouble is, it's got small 'feet' too, and blows over when it gets windy, which hasn't been good recently.

We've also had mice in the attic, but I think our sonic mouse repellent is now keeping them away
