  • Last night's supper was delicious and there are potatoes and carrots leftover for this evening too.

The plan for today is to take the Christmas decorations down and put them away in the attic. Also washing and ironing. Can't quite believe I cleared it all before Christmas as there's loads of it again

Mr F is having a garage day. He didn't wake in the night coughing last night for the first time in a week so we think he's on the mend. He's even feeling up to a trip to Blu£wat£r tomorrow to find a new suit. Although I did wake up to hear him shuffling round the bedroom in the dark though. Apparently he thought he was still in the hotel room in Vienna and couldn't find the light switch :rotfl:Perhaps he needs a bit more recovery time :rotfl:

    Have a great weekend all

  • Hi Supersaver. I think I am a kind person usually but I can definitely improve. I did well yesterday but I wasn't busy or grumpy - the true test will come when I'm having a bad day.

You are not alone Fortune. I think I've been trying to be mindful when I'm being served by someone in a shop/cafe etc. So far it's been good and I've had a good response and haven't had the need to lose us rag. However a young ladee got my goat t'other day by totally ignoring me and I asked her name and wrote a quick complaint. I didn't want to embarass DD but DD said I should have told her off there and then. It's doing it in a controlled manor isn't it rather than losing me rag. but what should I say to a rude shop assistant who pushes in the space beside you and doesn't acknowledge your presence, then virtually blanks you when you try to communicate (my mistake was being polite - I should have just told her that her pushing in like that invaded my space and made me uncomfortable). Answers on a postcard please ?

If I'm on form I usually try to lighten the mood. I might have said something like "Breathe In" (with a smile on my face). If I'm grumpy though I usually complain, there and then and loudly. Although in the politest of terms ;)

I do try and remember that everyone is fighting a hard battle but it's a bit difficult when you get caught in the cross fire. What's important for me, to quote a current, popular Disn£y film, is to let it go. "Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die".

Blimey, diary philosophy and stuff

  • Got everything accomplished that I wanted to today:
    • leftover panetone for breakfast with pineapple smoothie
    • decorations down and packed ready for Mr F to take them up to the attic
    • hovered round to get rid of the residual tinsel and glitter
    • made stuffed mushrooms for lunch with leftover pate
    • two loads of washing done
    • one basket of ironing done
I think there's only half a Stollen left in the freezer now from Christmas. So no food wastage at all so far.

I'm going to make Sausages in Red Onion Gravy for supper to go with the potatoes and carrots from last night. There's the last of a jar of redcurrant jelly needs using up.

Mr F is still intent on a Blu£wat£r trip tomorrow so I'm off to make a list of things to look out for.

Lol. I like that. I did try to lighten the mood but got 'tude. However I should have said 'don't smile love your face might crack' :rotfl:

Which would have satisfied my need to let her know her miserable cowness was noted but was her problem. :rotfl:

Oh yes, all knowing philosophy here :rotfl:

  • Hello,

In Japan, if you show you are annoyed with somebody it is seen as a weakness in you and the person you are annoyed with is seen as having won the altercation. I used to think that was good as everybody held their annoyance in and was polite, but as they have a very high suicide rate, I suspect that all that holding in of poison is not doing them any good.

I hate being ignored by checkout staff whilst they ring up and pack my purchases. Even worse when they hold a conversation with a colleague. I just glare which is no help at all.

Wishing you a far less grumpy 2015,

    Squirrel x:j
