Definitely. I have a few snap shots of my dad on duty throughout the Middle East (Iran, Palestine-as-was, Lebanon) but no letters. Everyone else who could have fought, in either of the world wars, was in a reserved occupation.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

A much busier and more productive day today
- went to Step class. For the first time in 3 weeks  It wasn't too bad and I can still walk :rotfl:
- joined a friend for coffee after - £4.50 as my turn to pay
- made Leek & Herb Stuffed Jackets for lunch. I used chives from the garden as I didn't have any parsley and there's enough left over for a second helping
- did some work on the Jag commission
- did a couple of hours ironing
- made Squash, Leek & Butterbean Stew from the meal plan for supper but with haricot beans as I didn't have any butterbeans. I got a Festival Squash in my last veg box so was looking for a good use for it. There's enough left over to whizz up as soup for my lunch tomorrow
- did my weekly on-line shop. We have people coming to the house on Saturday evening so I added the week's entertainment budget to the pot to cover beers and snacks
- ordered a crate of red wine from Laithwait£$ as we've none left  Went through TCB to get some cashback.

I could use the chives growing in the garden! Doh! I don't have to make salsa or anything fancy, I could just ... use them. Blimey, this resourcefulness takes some getting used to2023: the year I get to buy a car0

- more work on the Jag. All the body work is complete now https://www.facebook.com/BeeGardenArt
- reconciled the bank accounts - no surprises
- did a little more Xmas shopping taking advantage of the D3b3nham$ sale
- whizzed up the leftover Squash, Leek & Butterbean Stew to have as soup for lunch
- a couple of hours housework
- made Chorizo Chilli for supper. I used fresh red chilli instead of the Cajun seasoning as that's what I had in
- rustled up some Cheese Scones for the freezer
- a home manicure
Sleep tight all

Just reading the Remembrance Day posts.
This is a poignant time of year for me, as my mum's birthday was on 12 November, so Remembrance Day is always tied up with thoughts of my mum.
My dad served in WW2. He was evacuated from Dunkirk, then was sent to the North African desert , then up through Italy. The earliest photo I have of him was taken in France.
My grandfathers were already too old to serve in WW1, but I found a great uncle who was in the Royal Artillery, who fought ( and survived ) at the Somme.
I found a more distant relation, who joined up two days after war broke out, and survived until October 1918.
I find it very heartening that these people will never be forgottenEarly retired - 18th December 2014

We won't forget them Goldiegirl. Mrs F the 1st does a lot of research into family history and has started looking into Mr F's side so we're hoping to discover a lot more about the ancestors. It seems that one of Mr F's ancestors was a hero and a rogue  I'll see if I can find the story to share here.

3rd day of the week and I'm still upping my productivity:
- went to Zumba this morning and really enjoyed it. It doesn't feel like a workout when you're dancing around like a lunatic to 'Moves Like Jagger' :rotfl:
- got the roof on the Jag https://www.facebook.com/BeeGardenArt
- made Baked Bubble & Squeak for lunch using some sulky potatoes, parsnips, carrots and sprouts from the bottom of the fridge. Mashed everything up with wholegrain mustard, topped with cheese and baked in the oven - nom, nom. Saved half for tomorrow's supper
- a couple of hours housework
- 2 loads of washing done and hung on the airer
- decanted the first of the season's gins - Black Cherry and Victoria Plum. It's the first time I've made either of these flavours - I don't think the Plum is going to last long

Greying sets GPS directly to Fortune's house..........YUM! They sure do sound delish. But it reminds me why I don't make them - it's the longevity thingummy, the 'putting up' stores whatsit, the 'for Christmas' doodad - get's me everytime, as if it's in the house, I 'sample' it until it's gone
Which is usually way before Christmas, Winter, or any other sensible period for which you should hold stores of food and drink
GreyingPounds for Panes £7,305/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023
Grocery Spend August 2025 £268.51/£300
Non-food spend August 2025 £15.55/£50
Bulk Fund August 2025 £13.50/£100 - decanted the first of the season's gins - Black Cherry and Victoria Plum. It's the first time I've made either of these flavours - I don't think the Plum is going to last long
