I love it when there are new bird visitors to the garden.
I also had to google it - the first thing that came up was a gay pub in Camden Town!Early retired - 18th December 2014

very attractive. Thoughts of malt loaf are also attractive :rotfl:

Hi both
I'd never seen one before either. It was Mr F who spotted and identified him. I'm wondering now if 'Black Cap' has other connotations Goldie - can't imagine why a gay pub in Camden would be named after a garden bird!
Mr F is going to Hampshire to help a friend with his business today - the malt loaf is accompanying him apparently :rotfl:

Aaaah - Black Cap as worn by a Judge. Trials might have taken place at the site.

I'd planned an organised, productive approach for this week but was a bit poorly yesterday so gave myself the day off from everything
Some progress though:
- switched with The Cheap Energy Club which should save me just over £100 per year. Plus I get £15 cash back and 1,500 points which I'll convert to T£$c0 points and use for £60 in restaurant vouchers
- put together a Christmas present budget and did some on-line shopping. Used my JL card to get the voucher points and TCB where available
- got my H0F rewards statement - £5. I'm up to £15 in H0F vouchers now
- Roasted Vegetable Soup for lunch to use up the courgettes and peppers in my VB. Made some potato bread with leftover blue cheese to go with it
- Sausages with Red Cabbage and Mash for supper to use up the rest of my VB red cabbage
- cancelled this weeks VB as Mr F is away and I have enough to see me through until next week
Autumn has definitely arrived now - Mr F put the heating on last night
I hope your week got off to a good start

Had my flu jab today
Feeling a bit sore and achy.
Some small achievements:- a little more work on the Jag painting
- picked up my prescription. No cost as I have a medical exemption
- cooked a version of Rumbledethumps for lunch with VB potatoes, parsnips, carrots and cabbage - nom, nom
- did a bit of wardrobe reorganisation. I have bought a few new winter things recently so made some room for them and put away my summer shoes
Don't think I'll be needing them again this year
- a little housework
- the rest of the Red Cabbage and Sausages with mash for supper
- some more Christmas presents bought
Nighty night all

Hey Fortune - just catching up
Isn't it a coincidence, I hadn't seen a Black Cap in RL until this year too. Unfortunately, mine wasn't in the garden, but to see one, and be able to identify it with EssexHebridean's help was a thrill, I can say
I love the Jag progress. Brilliant
But of course, it raises the question, who won the re-design the WI logo comp? Yours was beautiful.
I hope you feel better today. I went to bed lurgified - without a flu jab - and I at least feel better today, less achey for a start.

Hi Greying - lovely to see you.
The Black Cap is still around! We get very excited too if a new bird visits. I once saw a Gold Crest in my FIL's garden. He was sat on a conifer branch only a foot away from me and staring me right in the eye. Another of my favourites is the Long Tailed Tit but we haven't had any of those yet. I wonder if the long Summer has raised Black Cap numbers?
It looks as though the WI will be using my logo design - I suspect mine was the only entry :rotfl:
I always feel a little under the weather after a flu jab. It's reassuring in a way as I know my body is reacting and I'll have more protection over the winter. We both had flu twice in the first 3 years of being here - horrid! Sorry to hear you're suffering too. There's no hope of avoiding the bugs once the Schools go back and the colder weather arrives. Hope you feel better soon. I'm sure all that amazing, healthy food you cook will help you recover quickly.

Thank you Karma. I'm only a little under the weather just a bit of a wimp :rotfl:Mr F is away for the day for work so I can take things easy if need be.
The house is nice and cosy because the heating came on this morning! That's the first time the thermostat has kicked in am this year. Can't complain though, we made it through the whole of October with only about a day's use.
Hope all goes well with you.

Still feeling under the weather from the flu jab (but I'd much rather feel a bit pants for a few days than get the real thing). Not a great deal accomplished today as a result. I got up at 5 to see Mr F off then went back to bed for a bit
I did do a little more work on the Jag painting but was interrupted by an emergency call from Across-the-Lane-Neighbour who needed someone to pick up her youngest from school.
Made Leek, Cheese & Potato Pasties and had one for my lunch. There are two for Mr F's lunch tomorrow (I'm out) and two for the freezer.
Supper was a curry made from the Green Cauliflower I got in my VB this week.
Mr F is on his way home but not expected for a few hours yet. I hope he gets home soon, I'm destined for an early night again.
Take care
