  • Great news about the holiday!

Vienna was one of the stops on our river cruise in the summer.

We only got a flavour of the city, but it's somewhere I'd like to return to.

    I'm sure you'll have a great time

Ooh, Vienna. I went there when I was a student, it was enthralling! First cup of brewed coffee I ever had, brewed properly, absolutely heavenly. And my first visit to the opera - standing room at the back. A magical city!

Loving purple carrots gifting their colour to the tatties :):):)
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Thank you for stopping by everyone. We're very excited about our Christmas trip. In the meantime, there are things I should really be getting on with:
    • Jag commission. I haven't started it yet :o The customer is currently away on holiday but due back this weekend so I should have something to show them by then. I've set aside this morning to do some work on it
    • PTFA bank accounts. I have all the forms I need but haven't completed them yet. I'm at the School's open event this evening so will take my file along and have a look through if time allows
    • housework. A bit of catching up is required which I'll do this afternoon
    • de-cluttering. The freezer is here :T and has usurped a very old hi-fi unit and cabinet from the dining room. That needs to be listed for sale on the local FB sites. I also have a box of things for the charity shop which I'll deliver on the way to the School later.
My veg box is supplying all sorts of lovely meals. I made a Leek & Potato Soup with Cheese & Red Onion Bread yesterday for Across-the-Lane-Neighbour (she and eldest DD are poorly). The ate every last drop and declared it delicious!

    Right, onwards and upwards...

That bread sounds gorgeous, may have to make some soup just so we have an excuse to make some bread...

I'm envious of your new freezer.

We are seriously giving consideration to getting a new freezer next year.

Our current one is only 5 years old, but it is too small for our requirements.

We are intending to completely tidy out the garage to make room, get rid of all the rubbish out there, making room for a new freezer, and putting up shelves to store the things we want.

Hi Shala_moo. I use a D£hlia recipe for bread that doesn't use any yeast or require kneading, etc. It's very easy to adapt to whatever you have in the fridge too. Trouble is I find it difficult not to consume the whole loaf whilst still warm from the oven

Hello Goldiegirl. The new freezer is making a big difference already. I have a lovely integrated Bosch fridge freezer which should be adequate for just the two of us. However, it doesn't take into account all the cooking I do and I was fighting with the drawers every time I went into it.

The new freezer is cheap and cheerful but is already earning its keep. I ordered two packs of puff pasty in my shopping by mistake this week :o but at last I can freeze it for future use rather than struggling to use it up or giving it away.

I'm waiting for Mr F to wake up. He was away all week and came home exhausted so, this weekend, he is mostly sleeping :rotfl:

He wanted a lazy day at home yesterday so I was able to get on with a few things:
    • did a few hours work on the Jag commission
    • read up on the PTFA bank account paperwork
    • made Bacon & Courgette Tart for lunch
    • made Malt Loaf. I want to make some smoothies this week with the fruit from my organic box and thought malt loaf would be just the thing to accompany them. This is the first time I've made it but Mr F has quality tested it and declared it delicious!
    • Leftover Haddock & Leek Gratin with Sweetcorn Mash for supper with a bottle from the wine rack - it was Saturday night after all :D
In other news, I received a summons for Jury Service yesterday. I have done it before, years ago and before we moved here. I seem to remember they wouldn't pay much for parking so I'll have to look into that.

We are planning to go to a local Folk Festival today and make the most of the last day of good weather. I also need to pick up some plates I bought through a local FB selling site. £60 for 6 dinner plates, 6 side plates and 6 tea plates. The dinner plates alone would usually cost £66 so I'm pleased to get a bargain. There is a little home improvement budget left this month so I'll be using that.

    Have a great Sunday everybody!

Sounds lovely, except for the jury service - which can be interesting, at least! Folk Festival will be brilliant though, I'm sure :)
