  • Hmmm, tax issues again. Mr F got more money in his salary this month than he usually does. This was a refund due to a change in his tax code to take into account a cheaper temporary company car. All good. But then... we get a letter from HMRC saying they had reviewed his tax liability for 2013/14 and he owes them money  Why give us the refund if we owe them? It still leaves us a bit better off so I suppose I shouldn't grumble.

    Yesterday's MS
    • I have gone back on the Nutrach£ck diet as the pounds have crept back on
    • spent this month's house budget on the long awaited Laura A$hl£y bed linen :T
    • the guest bed headboard finally arrived. That's a job for Mr F this weekend
    • did the meal plan for the week and I'll only have to do a small top-up shop this time
Mr F is out at a client meeting again today so peace reigns in the Fortunate household.

If there's a refund *and* a debt they've just discovered, you'd really think they'd net it out, wouldn't you? Sigh ...

Still, FS, it sounds like things are carrying on the way you want them to - thats always good :)

Loving the blackberry liqueur recipe - we live just off a canal path and the berries and still gorgeous along there - I shall be off to get some more! :)

  • I know what you mean re your hubby's tax! I got a cheque through the post a couple of years ago for a refund for over paid tax. It was something daft like £27.65 and in the same post delivery was a demand for me to pay tax for £27.65! I was so confused I phoned them up and I didn't understand their explanation but it apparently was right so I offered to just rip up the cheque/ send it back and then we were straight. They said "oh no you can't do that you have to pay the cheque in to the bank and then when it clears write us a cheque for the same amount!" Idiots! Ha ha! :rotfl:

Don't get me started guys. It really bugs me that our money pays for such an incompetent service that causes so much misery.

Do try it greent. I add it to sparkling wine for a celebration drink, pour it over ice cream, and use it in trifles and eton mess type deserts. It's very versatile and very delicious.

Our local farmer is muck spreading today - eugh! Everyone has their windows closed and their washing in. Such a shame that it's coincided with this late and welcome sunshine.

    Anyhow...
    • Sausages in Plum Sauce for supper last night - what else! :rotfl: Served with Potato & Sweet Potato Mash and Beans & Peas
    • Tai Chi at the WI - harder than it looks! I only spent £1 on a raffle ticket as I used all my will power to say no to the refreshments :A Those fresh cream, strawberry scones did look delicious though
    • Zumba this morning
    • popped into the market town after to pick up a small shop for this week - £76.68 under budget :T
    • the new bed linen was delivered although I haven't had a chance to open it yet. Giving myself a home improvement budget has really worked for me. I've done so much now that I haven't got space to record it all in my signature
    • made Marrow Soup for lunch which we had with Peshwari Naan. Ok but I'm going to add a little more curry powder to the leftovers. That's the last of the marrow anyway :rotfl:
    • went foraging with Across-the-Lane-Neighbour and her youngest. We came across several small trees with fruit which, at first sight, looked like sloes. No thorns though. I think they are bullaces so another flavour of gin is on the cards
    • also came across some red berries which I now know are Hawthorn. Guess what I'm going to do with those?
    • Garden Veg Pasta from the meal plan for supper tonight. Another courgette used up :rotfl:
It was lovely to be out in the countryside today. The sun was shining, the views were amazing, the hedgerows full of fruit and the sky full of dragonflies. I'm so lucky to live here.
