  • More steps in the right direction today:
    • did the weekly on-line shop - should be about £16 under budget
    • painted the remaining skirting boards
    • managed to get a load of washing line dried - although I had to rush out and get it in between showers :rotfl:
    • Butterbean & Rosemary Soup from the meal plan for lunch today with some Garlic & Parmesan Bread. Made with Rosemary and Perpetual Spinach from the garden. Lots left over
    • reconciled the bank accounts - all balance
    • decided on the photo to use for my Aston commission
    • got another commission :T - this time for an E-Type Jag
    • Sausages with Two Potato Mash, Mustard Gravy and Mixed Veg for supper from the meal plan. There's enough left over for tomorrow too
    • went to Yoga with Mr F. Very hard - I'm just not that bendy!
Hope you've all had a good Tuesday.

  • Ours days are so much more relaxed now Mr F is at home:
    • started work on the preliminary sketch for the Aston - tricky as there are very few straight lines
    • leftover Spanish Eggs with Chorizo & Peppers for lunch
    • baked a Plum & Almond Cake to use up some of the gifted plums - deeelicious (well, I had to test it)
    • did some research on watercolours
    • leftover Sausage & Mash for supper
Off now to give myself a manicure. My nails are shocking after all that decorating!

    Happy Hump Day

  • Spent most of yesterday at Across-the-Lane-Neighbours doing PTFA stuff:
    • was made a delicious lunch
    • I contributed Plum & Almond Cake for pudding. We warmed it up in the oven and had it with cream :D
    • went down to a neighbours house to get more plums. They are away and asked us to help ourselves. The tree is absolutely laden with fruit - we didn't even make a dent
    • Oven Baked Leek & Bacon Risotto from the meal plan for supper - and that's the last of the leeks! :rotfl:
Today has been mainly a plum day:
    • Step class this morning
    • took some plums and some chive plants round to my aged neighbours. My chives have self seeded all over the place this year and I'd promised them some
    • leftover Risotto for lunch. We're off to a Cheese & Wine Party this evening so had our main meal at lunch time
    • made Plum Gin - you know me, gift me some fruit and I'll find a way to make alcohol out of it :rotfl:
    • made Plum & Almond Chutney. It's reducing on the stove now and will be ready for putting in jars soon
    • made Cheese & Pasty Whirls for the party tonight - they always prove popular and this time were specially requested. Well almost made - the pastry is resting in the fridge as we speak
I'm intending to make Plum Sauce this week too. Scurries off to research more plum recipe ideas ...

  • Ooh thanks for the plum and almond cake recipe!! I've just discovered I have a load of plums on my tree!! It's my first harvest from it as it is only about 3 years old! I can't believe how many plums there is for such a small tree! Need to go buy the almonds before I can make it but I will be having a go this week hopefully! Just made rhubarb and custard cake to use up some rhubarb. Will be having a slice of that after dinner x

Oooh, Rhubarb & Custard Cake - I love that too. The Plum Cake is huge and is only really cake for a day. After that it becomes very moist - but lovely heated up in the oven, spead with plum jam and served with cream :D

  • I have been gifted more plums! Not sure what I'm going to do with them all.

This weekend has been a little spendy:
    • a Cheese & Wine evening at Across-the-Lane-Neighbours on Friday. Took the Cheesy Whirls, a bottle of red and a bottle of white from the wine rack and the tail end of some fruit liquers. I need the bottles for the next vintage :rotfl:
    • went to the Headcorn Air & Military Ops Show to see the Lancasters. Spectacular! They were escorted by two Spitfires. It was £24 to get us in and we took a packed lunch but the Lancasters weren't on until right at the end. So we had 3 drinks each, an icecream and a toastie because Mr F got the munchies. We spent £44.50 whereas we'd usually have spent £32.00 :( Very glad we went on Saturday though as the Lancasters couldn't fly on Sunday because of the bad weather
    • we were supposed to be going to a BBQ on Sunday but that too was cancelled because of the bad weather. We pottered at home and had a surprise visit from an old army friend of Mr F's instead. I now have lots of paneer cheese and sweet potatoes to use up as these were destined for BBQ food. I made Potato Bread with Goat's Cheese & Thyme for lunch and substituted the goat's cheese for some paneer. That turned out well and we had it with the last of the Butterbean & Rosemary Soup
    • Mr F fancied a takeaway Sunday night. I gave in and we had a curry - £22.50. So we're slightly over on the fun money this weekend. Don't think we've much on next weekend though so may recoup then
    • Aged Neighbours left a bowl of home grown, cherry tomatoes on the doorstep :)
Off to scour BBCG00dF00d now for Plum, Sweet Potato and Paneer recipes ;)

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I know I'm rather late, but I've just checked out the Leek and bacon risotto - it looks delicious!

I will admit to being in a bit of a rut with meals - that risotto will be something different. Thanks for the link :)

Those Lancasters flew over our office last Thursday, which caused some excitement

I understand they've been staying at Biggin Hill, and they were on their way to Eastbourne

I love old aeroplanes. A couple of years ago we were in London for the Queens birthday. We were in the Strand, and saw all the planes coming in for the Buckingham Palace flypast, it was brilliant.

It's sooooo easy to make LauraJo. I think she does other versions as well. More of a scone than a bread though.

The Risotto's an easy make as well Goldie - oven baked so not much stirring. There's an oven baked Smoked Haddock Risotto on BBCG00dF00d too which is also delicious.

It was great to see the Lancasters particularly as it's unlikely they will fly together ever again.
