Lol - so funny (sorry). Also leek and potato soup now it's cooler?

I once got 10 bags of bananas, and 24 bottles of milk.
It was the early days and they didn't take them back, so lots of muffins were made, and I discovered you could freeze both milk and bananas. Mmm....frozen bananas are like banana icecream (*goes off to put some bananas in the freezer*)

Mmmmm - banana ice cream. I'll keep that in mind when I next order kilos instead of numbers of bananas - I'm bound to at some stage :rotfl:
    Soup freezes very well.

Soup may indeed feature in the meal plan inod

Ha ha!!! Thats so funny!!! I did the same with Mackerel once!!! And Carrots and pasta!! And the opposite with mince! I remember thinking "What is that big bag the delivery driver is bringing out? It looks to be leaking blood!" and it was a sack of Mackerel with heads on but guts removed! I only wanted 3 and got about 20! Spent the evening Chopping heads off & putting them in freezer bags! I had enough carrots to feed a donkey sanctuary and enough pasta to keep an italian restaurant open for a month but only about 2 dessert spoons of mince meat to make Bolognese with! Oh and I ordered pine nuts and got pine disinfectant as a substitute!! I always shop in store now!
    :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm glad I'm not alone in my over-ordering GMOOD. Really glad it wasn't Mackerel though!

Mr F and I were out and about yesterday:
    • attended the unveiling of the village war memorial. It has had a wash and bush up and new lighting all paid for by the community to commemorate the centenary. There was a great turn out
    • popped into a local classic car garage to take a picture of my new commission. It's a beautiful colour and I'm going to really enjoy painting it. They took some cards from me too :)
    • home for lunch and then off to Homeba$£ to pick up decorating supplies. £218.82 spent so far. Homeba$£ had a 15% off everything sale :T The F&B paint we had to order on-line so got an extra 2.02% off that through TCB. Both purchases were eligible for N£ctar points and paid for with our J0hn L£wi$ card so more towards vouchers there. We don't do much decorating so there was quite a bit of equipment in the cost. We won't have to spend so much next time
    • spent my N£ctar points on a Pizza £xpr£$$ voucher as they have a double-up offer on
    • decided to go to our local pub for supper and check out the new landlords. Fish and chips twice, a small glass of white for me and a few beers for Mr F - £36.50. Quite good but the batter was a bit too salty for my taste. Paid for from this week's entertainment budget.
We were going to go to a steam fair today but Mr F wants to get on with chores and I'd like to paint more bees. So a day of painting and then a week of painting ahead.

    Better get on...

    Lots achieved today:
    • Mr F painted the chimney. It needs a 2nd coat though so more paint required
    • 3 loads of washing line dried
    • 3 more bees painted. One is a Common Carder Bee inspired by a fabulous photograph by Greying Pilgrim
    CommonCarderBee-Setof4FramedSmall_zpsfbf273ba.jpg
I'm really pleased with the way the bees turned out and feel quite :Athat I've been able to upcycle the old frames. Kirsty would be proud of me.

Now - what can I make for supper out of courgettes and leeks?:rotfl:

Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Such a lovely painting of the bee, so much detail

On Saturday I saw an article on the local news about the unveiling of a village war memorial - if it was your village, I thought it looked very impressive.

Thanks giblet and Goldie - I think he's my favourite of the four. BBC South East were at the unveiling Goldie so it could have been our village - you may even have seen me!

Decorating started in earnest today. Mr F decided the chimney needed another coat so did that first then we spent the rest of the day filling and rubbing down :p I hate that bit and we were determined to finish today so we didn't have to face any more dust tomorrow. I'll hoover (again) tomorrow morning once the remaining dust has had a chance to settle then it's sugar soap and ceiling paint next.

I'd quite like to shower and crawl into bed now but we are going to the WW1 Centenary ceremony at the Village War Memorial tonight. And as that only happens once every hundred years we don't want to miss it!

We've decided to have supper out beforehand as Mr F is away this weekend and we won't be spending any of the entertainment budget then.

For anyone anxiously waiting for leek and courgette news, last night's supper was Cheese & Bacon Lasagne but made with courgettes and peppers :rotfl:

The WWI Centenary ceremony last night was very moving and the War Memorial looked lovely under its new lights. Some of the relatives of the fallen still live in the village and we recognised many names. One family lost 4 sons.

The ceremony didn't start until 11.00 pm so we dropped into one of the village pubs beforehand for some supper - £55.

Sugar soaping completed today and the first coat of paint is on the ceiling and coving. The second coat will go on tomorrow and I'm hoping the F&B paint will arrive so we can get started on the walls. Mr F is off on a 4x4 jolly on Thursday so I'll be on my own after that. Bored with it now. We decided to decorate ourselves to save the money but it's blimming hard work.

Lunch today was Summer Vegetable Minestrone which included lots of courgettes and leeks :rotfl: Plenty left for tomorrow's lunch too. There's left over Bacon & Cheese Lasagne for supper tonight.

Off to the WI this evening for a social event. Better get a wriggle on or I'll be late.
