  • A day of loaves:
    • more work completed on the pit - should be finished tomorrow
    • a day in the office - 5 hours added to my next claim :T
    • took lunch in with me
    • baked Mediterranean Scones to put in Mr F's lunches
    • leftover Risotto with Bacon & Peas for supper tonight
    • an NSD. As I do my grocery shopping weekly, most of my days are NSDs - I just keep forgetting to put them down.
Was there a little less rain today? Or is that just wishful thinking? I've taken to haunting the BBC W£ath£r site in vain hope :rotfl:

Hoping you're warm, dry and getting a glimpse of that big yellow thing in the sky we used to know.

  • Hi Fortune!
Free champers AND parsnips? Ha ha!! Bizarre combination but hey well done you!! I know which of the two I would prefer and it's not the parsnips!
I'm not very good at online grocery shopping! I once ordered enough carrots to feed a donkey sanctuary, enough pasta to open an italian restaurant and a huge sack full of mackerel still with heads on, which as the driver carried it to the door, bled all over the path! (I only wanted 2 mackerel! I got about 16!)
I'm off to have a nosey at your recipe links to good food...... I love that site.....mmmmm
    GMOOD xx:)

Hi GMOOD - yes, quite a lot of next week's recipes could be parsnip based :rotfl:I've had a few surprises with on-line shopping too - the ginger mountain springs to mind! However, that led to discovering a pink ginger cordial recipe so I guess there's always a silver lining.

  • Nothing much to report yesterday because I took the day off :T:o but...
    • I did at least get to Step class. A new routine was introduced and it's a killer. I felt as though I had lots of energy though and my muscles didn't put up too much of a fuss
    • heating oil was delivered - £290.59 for 500 litres including VAT
    • Super-quick fish curry from the meal plan for supper last night. Put it in to use up a lonely smoked haddock fillet in the freezer which I added to a couple of hake fillets
    • Opened a bottle of red from the wine rack. Only one (large) glass drunk so within my recommended calories
    • Clever Mr F fixed the shower today. Should have been an easy job as it only involved replacing the temperature valve cartidge but this broke as we were taking it out. The manufacturer confirmed that this is a common problem with our type of valve. It meant Mr F had to do some careful drilling to get the other half out. I can confirm he's done a great job as I quality tested the shower earlier :rotfl:Lots of brownie points gained
    • Butternut Squash & Sage soup from the freezer for lunch served with the Mediterranean Scones I baked this week
    • did Mr F's tax return on-line. We owed £40.60 which I've coughed up. Could have been worse - one year they mucked up Mr F's tax code and we owed them £4k  I keep a much more careful eye on their calculations now ;)
    • Mr F is busy cleaning the pit out. It got pretty messy during the work. One of the light fittings is broken so we'll need to replace that - can't be sure whether it was done before the work started or not. It's still a bit bowed at the bottom where the pressure must have weakened the structure but only by about 15mm. Hardly noticeable and won't affect it's use at all. There's so much concrete in there now it's extremely unlikely to get any worse
    • Meatballs with Rosemary Tomato Sauce is planned for supper tonight. I'll be serving it with Potato & Parsnip :rotfl:Mash and some Green Beans I need to use up. Should be enough for supper tomorrow too :)
    • we are booked into the cinema tonight to see the next Hobbit film - £21.11. If that's all we spend this weekend I'll put the rest of this week's entertainment budget towards the oil and tax bills.
It's been a really bright day here today and what a difference it makes. I hope the sun is shining on you too.

That's not a bad price for your oil! I paid £320 for 500L in December, would be nice if they knocked a few more pence per litre off though!

Hi Beckyy. I go through these guys http://www.oil-club.co.uk/ but always shop around first. They have consistently had the best prices for the last couple of years and you don't get penalised for ordering smaller amounts. If there isn't a club in your area you can always start one.

  • It's so nice not to be woken up by raging storms in the night - I'm sleeping so much better.

We thoroughly enjoyed the film last night and were not seduced by Mr Ben, Mr Jerry or Mr Pick and Mix :) Managed to get home in time for an impromptu drink with Across-the-lane-neighbour and some friends. We took along a bottle of red from the wine rack.

Today has been a lazy Sunday:
    • a couple of hour's admin work
    • helped Mr F to put together a work presentation
    • gave myself a home manicure using another colour from my Christmas nail varnish set - a very pretty pearlised pink
    • the rest of the Meatballs in Rosemary Tomato Sauce for supper tonight
Enjoy the last of the weekend everyone!

  • We've been a bit worried about the local bird population recently. Our garden has been pretty empty and we usually get a lot of wildlife. Today, however, confidence was restored with the arrival of:
    • Blue Tits
    • Coal Tits
    • Dunnocks
    • Black Birds
    • Robins
    • Thrushes
    • Pied Wagtails
    • Rooks
    • and 3 wrens!
We usually have one wren in the garden who regularly dines in our log store but I've never seen 3 together before. They must have started establishing territory and looking for wives. I'm very pleased to see that the storms haven't wiped out the wildlife completely.

    MS today:
    • Step class this morning
    • some work on the portrait this afternoon. I'd like to get it finished by the end of the month
    • a little housework
    • Tomato & Harissa Stew with Cheddar Dumplings from the meal plan for supper tonight. Enough left over for tomorrow's supper too :)
    • am planning to do the week's online shop tonight - we seem to have run low on quite a few things.
Thinking of everyone who's facing difficulties at the moment and sending positive vibes.

  • Went off the rails MS and diet wise today:
    • coffee and cake in town with Across-the-lane-neighbour and her mum - £5
    • chose 2 pairs of glasses in B00t$ - £:eek::eek: Can't even bear to see the figure written down here
    • a glass of Prosecco and a Quattro Formaggi for lunch - £17
    • bought some instant filler and a mini roller set to repair the damage from the alarm installation - £6.47
    • a few emergency and a few treat items from M&S - £8.42
    • an hour's admin work
    • leftover Tomato & Harissa Stew with Cheddar Dumplings planned for supper tonight.
I knew the glasses were going to be expensive. You can't get my prescription for off-the-shelf ones and I don't want to compromise on something I wear everyday. So I bought the ones I liked and thought suited me - let's just hope these ones last for 4 years too.

Back on the wagon tomorrow :o

If you think of the glasses on cost per wear they will be totally justifiable I bet! I bought two pairs just before xmas and it's so fab being able to see - I wear contact lenses lots and hadn't upgraded glasses in years, it's like the world is in HD afterwards:o
