Not sure why the link isn't working - anyhoo, it you're interested it's the Berry Trifle on the BBCG00dF00d site.
We had a very pleasant evening at Across-the-lane-neighbours and the trifle went down well. Both Mr F and I were feeling very lack lustre yesterday as a result though. Not hungover but bodies rebelling I think. I didn't get much done as a result:- made Parsnip, Sage & Parmesan Bread with sage from the garden
- made Spiced Parsnip & Cauliflower Soup. Unusual and very strong flavours. I'd probably only use a teaspoon of fennel seeds and just the zest of the lemon if I made it again. There's enough for 6 portions so we'll have some for lunch today with the leftover bread and I'll freeze some
- You can see I'm on a mission to use up all the parsnips :rotfl:
Have a relaxing day all

Morning Fortune, the bread recipe sounds good - may have to have a go at that one
It's lovely having a good relationship with your neighbours. We've spent many a summer evening with the BBQ lit with one set of our neighbours.
My use up mission is jars. We seem to have quite a lot of chutney type stuff (HM and bought) and they take up a lot of room in the fridge.
Have a good week.

Aaaahhhh - the dreaded chutnies!! I love the stuff, and it's such a good way of using up gluts from the garden, too. However, we also have quite a lot of it at the mo (and I only made one small batch of apple and pear last year) - my homemade stuff (including a couple of jars from the previous year, some from a friend who was moving abroad and cleared out her fridge and cupboards to us when they went - and then several jars of homemade received as Xmas presents this year. Still, it's good on bean/ veg burgers to zap them up, a spoonful here and there in or with curry (Delia's runner bean one works quite well instead of mango - I had a particularly sweet batch) or in a casserole type dish! The whole of the top shelf in my fridge is dedicated to jars of things - my mission is to get that down to about half the shelf!:D I have to say that Tilly inspired me here when using up jars last year!
Laithwaites is only a few miles from here - so I know people who work there. We managed a great deal last year - got several mixed cases of red wine at £2.50/ bottle - some of which retailed for £15/ bottle. I think the cheapest bottle was £7 or £8. I did get called a heathen by our friend who works there when using a £15 bottle of Bordeaux to poach pears for dessert though!:rotfl:but at a cost to me of £2.50 it was considerably cheaper than anything I could get in T*sco!
The staff at Laithwaites can drink the wine during the working day (not too much, obviously!) - apparently they need to know the products they're selling.....;);)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

We're extremely lucky with our neighbours Tilly but that does up our wine consumption significantly :rotfl:
My fridge is looking a bit full with jars too. I'll join you on that mission if I may.

I've done just enough now to salve my conscience. A bit of ironing next whilst watching TV and I'll be guilt-free :rotfl:

Well, a bit more than yesterday anyway:
- baked Breakfast Muffins
- applied for a J0hn L£wi$ Credit Card which will give us points towards vouchers for our grocery shopping. Our current credit card gives us nowt so it's got to be an improvement on that
- researched utility providers - our fixed deal is up at the end of February so a change is on the cards
- looked into a Fir$t Dir£ct bank account. We'll get £100 for transferring our account, a free £250 overdraft facility (which we won't use but is useful just in case you go over by mistake) and access to their 6% Regular Saver. I'm not happy with our current bank's attitude and we're getting pitiful interest on our current savings account, so will be transferring as soon as the bulk of next month's DDs come out
- leftover Spiced Parsnip & Cauliflower Soup with Parsnip, Sage & Parmesan Bread for lunch
- organised some paperwork
- lots of washing and ironing done
- it'll be Lemony Prawn & Pea Risotto from the meal plan for supper tonight
Enjoy the last of the weekend

Hi Cal. They turned out really well. I didn't have apple sauce or blueberries so I substituted them for lemon curd and raisins. Not sure I'm going to be able to wait until breakfast though :rotfl:
