Thanks skint_spice. I've just worked it out and you're quite right - cost per wear is much more palatable. I know I could have gone for a cheaper option but I didn't want to have to wear something everyday that wasn't really what I'd wanted. Not at all MS but I do have the money - the belt will just have to be tightened a little more if I'm not to raid the savings.

Hi Fortune, I'm a firm believer in buying glasses you love. I'm the same as you, can't get cheap lenses for my prescription.
Dinner sounds very nice indeed.

Another vote from me for the specs.
As a wee aside I bought myself a truly fantastic purple walking stick which I love love love.I cant tell you how much I hated the NHS ones.

Thanks Tilly. I do love them. I'll use them everyday. And I can afford them. Don't know why I'm beating myself up about it really. But then I think it's a good thing to be questioning an expensive purchase - that's what this site's all about after allAnother vote from me for the specs.

Remember the job Mr F was being headhunted for? It was the 2nd interview today. He felt it went very well but there is a 2nd candidate. They'll be seeing the 2nd next week so we should hear after that. The job is home based so it would be perfect if we are to move North in a few years. Fingers crossed.
In other MS news:- went into the office for a meeting this morning. They want an extra office day from me this month :T
- an exciting afternoon spent typing up the minutes
- Waitr0$£ delivered. No free champagne this time but I suppose you can't expect that every week :rotfl:£16.74 over budget but that includes beer and ingredients for a trifle we're contributing to dinner at Across-the-lane-neighbour's on Friday so that will come from the week's entertainment budget
- Across-the-lane-neighbour and I are out visiting an injured friend this evening (torn Achilles) who is housebound. I'll be taking a bottle of white from the rack and some of these which I baked earlier
- The leftover Super-Quick Fish Curry for supper tonight
Night all

Hi Fortune!!
I keep peeping at your food links! I'm a bit of a foodie and am registered on that site. Just saved your Muffin recipe to my binder. They look yummy! I've made the marmalade and poppy seed cake off there which is really nice too. (You'll have to search it as I'm not as clever as you and can't do the link! :rotfl:) I'm a bit obsessed with their "yummy scrummy carrot cake" too which I make with the normal cream cheese topping and add some walnuts too. It's great for using up the mountains of carrots I grew this year. Talking of carrots, their spiced carrot and lentil soup is really cheap, easy and tastes amazing! Give it a go! I don't normally like carrot soup but that is yummy!
Hope you get an early night

Another vote for getting the glasses which you want from me, too - I've just bought two pairs for myself (ok, they were BOGOF) and it took ages to find some I liked - and they were almost the most expensive ones there - typical!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

Hi there GMOOD. BBCG00dF00d is my favourite recipe site. I don't do much baking though because if there's cake in the house I'll eat it! No early night last night but I'm off to bed soon.

Thanks greent. I am reconciling myself to the glasses now. I got a deal on mine too which made the second pair about half price. So not entirely a washout on the MS front.
I always like the most expensive pair too :rotfl:
