You have probably heard me ranting before about the Tax Man. They have a 7 year run of getting Mr F's tax wrong and they didn't break it this time either. They sent a note with a revised tax code for him. I always look at these very carefully and this time I discovered that they have been charging him double his company car benefit  So, after waiting on the 'phone for 20 minutes to speak to someone we were told that, yes, it was a mistake and they'll correct it. "But, what about the last 4 months" I asked. "Oh, he'll get that back in his next pay packet" they said. "Even though he's leaving his current employer on Friday?" I said. "Don't worry, it will all work out by the end of the year" they said. I won't be holding my breath.
The good news is that Mr F's tax rebate for last year came through today - over £1200 :j It has been paid already to the CC. Mr F is due some expenses and some money for working for a friend for the day, so I think we'll have cleared it by the end of the month :T So, no interest hopefully (it cost us £30 last month)
My Fleabay listing for the ladder ended today. No sale I'm afraidI will drop the price a little and try it as an auction tomorrow. We'll lose some money on it but I'd rather that than have to keep looking at it :rotfl:
All jobs on my list are complete except Mount Everest. I am all ironed out and just couldn't face double sheets and duvet covers today. They can wait 'til the weekend.
Roasted garlic, courgette and cherry tomato pasta from the meal plan tonight. The courgettes were from the garden. I only have a couple of plants in a pot but they're popping courgettes out at the rate of about 2 a day, I wonder if I can find any recipes for courgettes and ginger? :rotfl:
Mr F is working from home for the next couple of days so I'm looking forward to a bit of a lie in tomorrow.
Sleep tight

He drove into Central London on business and forgot to pay the Congestion Charge! £60 fine  He can claim £10 of this back from his employer as that is what it would have cost if he had remembered to pay it - but still £50! I am debating whether to make him pay it from his personal spends.
Fortunately one of his higher value items has sold on Fleabay which will offset it. Cheeky beggar said that he thought he should get the cash for any of his items that sold. After you pay off the CC debt you ran up said I.
The house is almost ready for our visitors this weekend. Didn't get round to washing the kitchen and bathroom floors so I'll do those first thing. Didn't manage to do any paperwork today either... but... I did go to Zumba :j And blimming hard it was too. I'm already aching :rotfl:
Nothing much on the MS front today although it was an NSD. Tried a new recipe from the meal plan for dinner tonight - Indonesian Noodle Salad. A hit with both of us so I'll be making that again. Waitr0$£ delivered the shopping - free raspberries this time due to the short shelf life. Ordered 2 bags of onions by mistake thoughSo that's an onion, courgette and ginger recipe I need now :rotfl:

The 'this' sounds lovelyand a chutney was what occurred to me. Not that I'd know where to start :rotfl:.

It hasn't got ginger, but there's a recipe for chocolate courgette cake in the first green and blacks cookbook.
I make OH pay parking fines out of his personal spends! Seems to pay more attention to signs now. Coincidence? Me thinks not :rotfl:!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hiya
I'm enjoying your diary. Hugh F-W has some great recipes for courgettes here, including a chutney one which I have made and would recommend. I have also sliced them and fried them in olive oil or butter, frozen them flat so they don't stick together then put them in a freezer bag. Good for adding to casseroles or curries. Good luck with using them up!0 -
Thank you everyone for all your recipe suggestions - I may have enough ingredients to try them all :rotfl:
I've been offline for a bit because of the changeover of our broad band. Mr F's old employer switched off the old broadband mid-morning which I thought was a bit tight as he, officially, didn't stop working for them until 5.00 pm. Fortunately, the Telecoms company that is British provided a really smooth handover - everything arrived when they said it would, was simple to set up and works brilliantly. So I'm back in the game :T
It is turning into a very squeaky month though. Mr F's final salary was nearly £700 short  so there won't be anything spare for CC payments, savings or entertainment until he gets paid by the new employer and that might be in 6 weeks time . A real test of my new MS abilities.
The 'Project' turned up. It is a much bigger 'Project' than either of us were expecting and more than Mr F can take on in light of starting the new job. Fortunately, our friend had said that, if it was too much, he was happy for us to scrap it or try to sell it on. It has already cost us £80 as we had to pay another friend his fuel costs for delivering it and take him out to dinner as a thank you for his time. Mr F thinks we may get a couple of hundred for it though so we could make a profit.
Keep your fingers crossed for my Fleabay sales - they will have to keep us afloat for a while.
Enjoy the sunshine

The ladder has sold :j I relisted it as an auction and dropped the price. (Bless you - I can hear you cheering
) It has 1 bid already and still 7 days to run
Another item of Mr F's went too so that could be a £100 injection - yay!
Blimming needed at the moment. We have had a fabulous social weekend but it all comes at a price doesn't it. Still, we've managed to live off the leftovers today and there's still stuff to use up. Mr F needs to take a packed lunch to his new job and I've warned him it could be mainly cheese based :rotfl:
In addition, the printer went back to Mr F's old employer on Friday so we dragged our old one back out of the loft. We'd forgotten, however, how pants it was so I bit the bullet and sent Mr F off to PC W0rld. £90 later  I did go through £Co but there wasn't much in the way of cashback.
I'd forgotten that we'd applied to cash in Mr F's Pr£mium B0nd$. Hopefully they will come through soon because, if they do, we should be fine until payday.
Mr F has decided to sell his trailer too. He's had it for 7 years and never used it once during that time. It might be worth about £500 so he's going to list it on the 4x4 forum along with the 'Project'. If they don't sell there we'll put them on Fleabay.
So the month might not be as squeaky as I thought
Have a good week all

Not a lot to report today. Mr F is on his first week at the new job. All going well but a lot to do. I am picking up little bits of admin at home for him to take the pressure off, but... that means I will be arranging payment of the congestion charge fine. That is really gonna hurt me
A little MS:- an NSD
- courgette carbonara from the meal plan tonight
- little PAD to the credit card
- paid my car tax which was budgeted for
- researched some of Mr F's things he wants to Fleabay
- earnt some $pud $hilling$
- keeping going with the $wagbuck$
- made some fairy cakes with a sulky banana. They are going off so quickly in this heat.
Night all
