  • Looks like Mr F will get paid at the end of the month after all :T - so no squeaking! It means we can pay the credit card off and put some money into the savings too.

The builder came today to put the guttering up and do the snagging on the garage. He'll be finished tomorrow so I'll need to give him the final payment. All in the garage pot so no impact on the figures.

I've given him the go ahead for the next job on the list. The garage is at the front of the house and we are putting some gates up between it and the house. This will mean we can take down the hedge which divides the front and back gardens and make the back garden bigger. We have the same amount of land at the front and the back of the house but don't really use the front. So it makes sense to make the back garden bigger.

I'm very proud of myself today - loads and loads of paperwork completed. Including changing to my married name with two companies - only four years late :rotfl:

Early night for us both tonight - Mr F's new job is taking it's toll.

    Sleep tight all

  • Eight months later and the garage is finally, fully, properly finished :j I project managed in the end because Mr F was away so much with work. It's the first building project I have ever managed and I've learnt a lot. We came in a little under budget as well so that's a bonus. It's quite a relief as I have lived and breathed garages the whole eight months and every spare penny was put aside for it just in case. Now we can turn our attention to the many, many other jobs that need doing in the house and garden. Although there is a lot to do, they are much smaller jobs so we should make quicker progress.

    MS today:
    • Mr F asked for some cordial to take into work so I raided the freezer for the remainder of last season's blackberries and made Blackberry and Lime Cordial. There are already berries appearing in the hedgerows so I will be able to replenish stocks soon
    • Waitr0$£ delivered. Free mushrooms, cauliflower and mangetout this time :T Glad I checked the bill though, I ordered 2 leeks but have been charged the kilo price - £5.49. They'd need to be gold plated leeks at that price :rotfl:Is it a bit cheeky? Getting free stuff and then quibbling about the bill?
    • dinner will be Mushroom & Spinach Gnocchi from the meal plan tonight
    • an NSD
    • listing some more Fleabay items tonight
    • tomorrow I will need to bake some Maple Syrup & Banana Cakes. The bananas are ripening too quickly in the heat. That will keep Mr F happy though - more treats for his lunch box :rotfl:
You'll never believe it but someone else contacted me about the ladder today through Fleabay. They wanted a BIN price because they were going to be in the area on Saturday. I had to say no because the ladder now has a bid. Are bidders like buses I wonder? Now all I need is a 3rd one to come along and start a bidding war :rotfl:

Not at all cheeky. If they want to dispute the mushrooms, cauliflower and mangetout that's up to them. The cost of your golden leeks doesn't add up to the extras in any case.

What are their packers playing at with those kind of mistakes anyway?!

Wait did I miss something... I thought the ladder got sold? I'm so confused.

Hi there MRN. Sorry, I wasn't very clear - if they can't give you at least 2 days shelf life on the goods, you get them free :) So no mistake - just good customer service. The golden leeks are another matter :rotfl:

I was a bit premature with the ladder. It has got a bid on it so effectively has sold, I just haven't haven't got any cash yet. Counting chickens :)

  • Oh I see. That's still quite generous though to get them for free anyway.

  • I now have 2 bidders on the ladder :j:j

Other MS progress has been made today:
    • Mr F received his final expenses payments from his old employer. Straight off the CC bill. Nearly there now.
    • Waitr0$£ refunded the full £5.49 for the gold plated leeks - I love Waitr0$£
    • baked the Maple Syrup and Banana cakes
    • ate 2 and am considering a 3rd
    • went to Step class - that must be worth at least 3 cakes surely?
    • Haloumi and Green Vegetable Stir Fry with Coriander Rice from the meal plan
    • an NSD
Mr F has made it through his first week - although he's tired and grumpy. We've opened a bottle of (Avi0$) wine to celebrate. That should put him in a better humour :rotfl:

So looking forward to a lie in tomorrow - don't you just love Fridays :)

  • Hi,

    Great MFW steps today.

And yay for Waitrose. I've never shopped there or online but all this news of free veg for you is tempting me!

I'd definately recommend them but picking and delivery would be from your local store so it depends how big/good that is. When I started, new customers were getting £20 off the first shop and I got 4 vouchers in my welcome pack worth a further £70 over the next four shops. My local is quite small so I do get quite a few substitutions. You can leave notes for the picker though to guide them. I used to shop with 0cad0 and Supermark£t.c0m were calculating them as the cheapest at that time. I haven't found Waitr0$£ any more expensive. Not as budget friendly as Lid1 or A1di but there aren't any of those within 20 miles of me.

  • I can walk to my local in about 7 minutes but I've only been in twice in 4 years! It is small though.

  • Mr F brought me breakfast in bed this morning. "Oh, oh" I thought "Is there another 'ladder' confession coming up?" :rotfl: Not this time, he was just treating me :)

And the treats continued. We went into the main town to see about getting a picture framed. Mr F bought me a coffee whilst we were out.

I took the opportunity to pop into B00t$ and $ain$bury$ to stock up on some things I can't get elsewhere. $ain$bury$ had some DAB radios on half price so Mr F bought one for the garage - he's been looking out for one for a while.

When we got home, Mr F suggested going out to the local pub and he treated me again to dinner.

So more spending than saving today but most of it was on Mr F and came out of his personal spends for the month :T

    He is a sweetheart
