I know when I used to work there we had a rule that you had to read out the key points to the customer, like the no cooling off period. It still fathoms the mind how people sign something without reading it (sometimes not even reading it)

While I never agree to or condone anyone conning a customer into a contract, maybe its a life lesson to all to read before you sign.

It sounds like me mis-sold it to you!!! I have been reserching the infinity plan but i think I have decided against it as it practically doubles the post of the laptop. Did they do a credit check?

    yes they do a check.

seem the infinity is done by them but a normal monthly payment is done by creation.

@ajones fair point you make, the only thing is some times people try to rush you to sign and you end up skim reading lets face it its a lot of stuff to read through to make sure you aint being hoodwinked some where.

    but a life lesson indeed.

i think going into store with your having done your research know what you want and how to pay is the best option along side reading what you signing.

Wow- after reading this I am never going to Currys. Ever.
  • just wanted to tell you all after reading these posts and joining that i have successfully cancelled my infinity plan and kept the existing laptop I 'leased'. This was after calling rentsmart and arguing with a rep for 20 mins or so whereafter she offered me a goodwill gesture and agreed to let me keep the laptop and would cancel everything.
Basically I was mis sold the infinity deal with the sales guy agreeing that the laptop would be mine to keep after the 2 years. This was the only reason I took the deal in the first place. I was also told that the infinity deal was replacing the 10 month deal that I ALWAYS take out when i buy from currys. Not impressed and although the rep from rentsmart wasnt going to give up easily (kept saying how I had signed the contract and if you refer to your agreement etc etc) she eventually spoke to a manager and agreed to cancel.

Just goes to show that it can be done and I will never again be taken in by a cute sales dude trying to charm the pants off me and telling all sorts of lies.

The fact is that the sales people are selling these Infinity plans purely based on KPIs, a 10 month IFC plan will usually mean a laptop will walk out the door with no attachments, the Infinity plan is loaded with approx 5-6 KPIs and possibly more depending on what else is sold at the time e.g Microsoft Office or a bag.

Generally the Infinity plan has a lower credit requirement, some sales colleagues will push the infinity based on this fact as £'s per hour is v.important for bonus. The regular finance company has stricter credit requirements and a high rate of declines, in the eyes of a seasoned sales colleague, a possible waste of valuable selling time for their £'s per hour.

    This is totally incorrect.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.
  • I bought an ipad3 on infinity in april 2012 and I tried to sell it yesterday but was told it was not mine to sell as it is only leased and I have to give it back after two years or buy something else,I was not told i had to give it back just told i can get a discount on something new,why should i give something back after paying nearly 900 pounds, could i take it back now and tell them to cancel the contract or what would happen if I cancel the payments and take it back to pc world and tell them i don't want it,can anybody help with this,

Due to the amount of time gone you will either need to talk to PcWorld Customer helpline or the finance company.

The iPad doesn't belong to you or PcWorld and you are not paying PcWorld any money, the ipad and the money you are paying belong to the finance company.

Because you are signing a lease agreement to lease a laptop not buy one!

It appears customers are either being conned or untrained staff don't know what they are selling.
