Sounds like you're at least having fun without spending too much money. And keep up with the good work of reducing smoking. I know people who only smoke when they drink, you're bound to do it more when you drink, just like people overeat when they're drunk.
  • Morning,

Didn't go out last night in the end. Did spend my £15 left from monday on takeaway with BF though. Only 3 cigarrets again yesterday :j may stick at this for another week then drop it down to 2. Booked the hotel for birmingham yesterday £50 for a Jury Inn not bad. So I have £25 left from the £50 bonus money I put aside. Will use the to do something nice on our anniversary.

no real plans today yet. BF is still snoozing so i'm catching up on some rubbish tv. Think his i pad will turn up today so I think he'll be busy playing with that. May try motivate myself to iron uniform for the week.

£50 left of my entertainment budget. I have a night out next tue should only need £30 for this so £20 unplanned money going to try not spent this and treat myself to some flat black shoes as I havent had a pair for ages. Still haven't needed to put petrol in so have my £20 for this will put it all in when needed though so I'll have some spare petrol. and £15 food budget left I could prob last with out this but may pick up a few bits and bobs one day.

I'm happy I still have money as by now i'm usually (as you know) counting down the days till payday.

I am getting a bit worried about Christmas  I follow santa on twitter and keep getting updates. 111 sleeps  Normally I get excited about christmas. I need to start saving money for this. I have 6 pay days left. Will come up with a plan.

Not much to report today. Made cake and hot dogs with BF yesterday need to give hime £10 towards to shop we did in asda. Popped to sainsburys after work for more bread rolls to finish off hot dogs tonight.

3 cigaretts yesterday :j and so far only 2 today :j I've decided that after my days off next week so as of friday I will cut down to 2 a day .

Feeling blugh today a mixture and anger & frustration which has made the cut down of smoking hard  Luckly the people I was working with today we're mainly friends and put up with my grumpyness.

Right waiting for BF to get home for round 2 of hot dogs. Fingers crossed tomorrow is a better day. xx

  • Hi Hannah,
I have been reading your updates and had to tell you that I think you are doing a great job. It's people like you that are keeping me motivated to watch what I spend on a day to day basis and stop frittering away my hard(ish!) earned salary.
I know it is difficult when your financial situation is different to your partners and especially if they don't know the full details. For what it's worth, it sounds as if you are dealing with it brilliantly, it would be so easy to compromise your eventual goal to be debt free in order to have a quiet life! ;-)
You can keep reminding yourself that you are going through a little period of being restrained in order that you can give yourself a much nicer life in the future.
Congratulations on the cutting down smoking. I gave up completely (after a dedicated 15 year 25 a day habit - bleugh) about 3 and a half years ago and it isn't easy. You are clearly very dedicated and disciplined and you should be really proud of yourself.
    :-)
Good luck on your DFW journey and thanks for the motivation.
  • Hi Hannah. thought i would drop by and see how your doing, you seem very in control and happy, considering everything. keep doing what you are doing, yes every little helps. you say your bf understands your situation can he not help you in ways that you can both enjoy spare time together that doesnt have to envolve spending alot of money, what about making a nice romantic meal and a good old movie and pop corn than £40 to spend going out. i know in the long run its £4o saved to spend off the debt than just another night out. i often google free or cheap things to do. in the area than spend money un necessary. just a thought. I have started to buy something cheap to sell on, its working, sell that item and buy another, its easy, dont take much setting up and reap rewards, even if you make 25 to 50% its something. all adds up to a monthly total. try it and see. you could always get some girl friends around and swap a few un wanted clothes. ask them to bring a item to raffle too! and a bottle if you want a good night ;) speak soon babes, have a good week. xxx
