i suppose so, but it would sit more comfortably paying a cash bonus to troops for having to do something out of line with their normal job, as opposed to paying tube drivers extra money for driving the same train up and down the same line on the basis that it will be harder work because there will be more people than usual on the train.

Problem is, no union, so we get shafted and stabbed time and time again. It's also why we are having to wait until the NHs revised pensions changes are confirmed until they confirm our details. Complete contempt for those willing to give their lives for the flag.

Apart from the dubious high profile link of the Olympics I would be surprised if they get many sign up for 3 weeks at the minimum wage.
And if they sign up, they might not turn up every day. And when they turn up, they might not be all that bovvered.

Would you want to be frisked by one of these people?

This is supposed to be anti-terrorist security. It's not just crowd control. What on earth made them think the private sector would be any use?

Not the first time. Will not be the last.

As a professor on R5L said today the private sector is only bothered with watching the bottom line, they are not so hot on the delivery. Even better when it is underwritten by public money.

Shame they won't step in and take over the PFI stuff in the same way.

The response in the Guardian is from the woman who runs the company - and it looks full of holes to me - her word against theirs at the very best.

I'm sorry you seem to be suffering from reading difficulties but please try again and pay particular attention to the words: "Here's a response that even the Graiunad published,"....

Clue: think about the word: "response"

That would be as opposed to the stunning performance and overwhelming brilliance exhibited by State run bodies like the Inland Revenue, MOD and Immigration service, would it?

And 'a professor' eh? My, my, an academic puffing Left wing ideology, who'd a thunk it?

Left wing ideology? Wasn't he just stating the deliberate policy and business model of the companies that go for these government contracts? Is it wrong? What else should they do? Over-perform at the expense of the shareholders?

State run wastage = private sector profit.

Net result to tax payer = 0 and quite possibly a negative return when they have to be rescued.

Doesn't need to be a professor anybody who has witnessed the stunning bailouts of outsourcing could come to the same conclusion.
