I've already said that if criminality is involved then the proper response is the law courts.
If commercial incompetence then the contract penalties should be invoked.
Unlike the banks there isn't, at least at the moment, any suggestion of criminality.
So things like 'hanging people out to dry' seems inappropriate.
Otherwise I rather agree with you; it seems incomprehensible that people top BoE, FSA and Treasury people are still in situ.0 -

I wish someone would tell our political class that.
For all the love of banker bashing, there seems little fuss being made about the tragically poor governments this country has suffered in the past 20 years and almost no accountability on the part of public bodies like the police, NHS and the civil service..0 -

Good point. I cannot claim to have negotiated such a large contract as this, but it seems to me common sense that if you get several compliant bids and you find that one is 25% cheaper than the others you question the competence of the low bid not just accept it.
To think that the Government is now claiming to be introducing more efficient contracting mechanisms into the public sector.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
