Depends on your your definition of terror?
Simply overflying civilians and "enemy" causes terror in them, dropping ordnance in their relative proximity significantly ups that terror."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Op Olympic is a MACA task. Both MACP (the shooty & EOD bits) and MAGD (Mill Assistance to Other Governemnt Departments - specifically the Home Office & The DCMS).0 -

Of course what apologists will fail to point out is that;
1) The Guardian will allow right of reply on their website to most things.
2) The response was as you say by Molly Prince the owner of the company.
3) Molly Prince has a conviction for peverting the course of justice.
4) She has been the director of 5 companies, struck off for failing to submit accounts.US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -
And then there is the question of how G4S was awarded the contract in the first place, and by whom (step forward NuLabour). Companies like G4S at Capita flourish under quasi-socialism. Using them as a stick to beat capitalism with is disingenuous. That's corporatism at work - not capitalism.
You have to laugh at the old "that's not capitalism, its corporatism...." remarkably similar to the aplogists for the old Soviet Union who used to say "ah, but that's not socialism......."US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -
Must say some of the questioning by the Parliamentary Comittee appears commercially naive.
Asking why people weren't recruited and in place for several months leading up tio the Olympics? For example.
Just wonder who would pay for that cast iron guarantee. Locog only seem interested in in paying £8.50 hour for staff whilst actually on site in the Olympic "window".
One MP suggesting that people in full time jobs may have given them up for the chance of a months work?
Others seemed surprised at the "Draconian" working practices such as only paying them for training days, paying for licenses and providing a free uniform if they actually completed their work.
G4S have screwed up starting with accepting the contract. They should have left it to someone else, either directly or pricing realistically."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Indeed it is - which is why we are doing it. It doesnt alter the fact that it SHOULDNT be by the definition. the Olympics isnt a National thing (despite what we are told) its a city thing. Its the London Olympics not the English olympics.
The very MOST it should be is a city of London issue, so shouldnt come under the home office really as its a local government problem.0 -

I don'tfollow you here, I can't parse "we are doing it {becasue its a MACA task]" and "it shouldn't be [MACA] by definition"
Op Olympic is a legitimate military task supporting the civil authority/power/community under various bits of legislation. Some of which, eg the Counter terrorism & Bomb disposal are standing Military tasks just with an increased tempo and some of which, eg the troops geting jiffed to guard stadiums becasue G4S couldn't deliver, are new tasks but cleary allowed/detailed under:
The MoDs Joint Defence Publication 2 "Operations in the UK"
The Emergency Powers Act 1964
The Civil Contigencies Act
(and one of the Reserve Forces Acts)
where there are such great catch-all phrases like "urgent work of national importance" which, lets face it, means whatever the Secretary of State says is important0 -
It's quite sad really when you start looking on how the world is viewing this. It's front page on CNN and is really quite an embarassment for UK plc....0

It is and hopefully it will not actually impact on the games as the risk assessment may have been higher than required.
The Government wanted security on the cheap and shouldn't have put their eggs in one basket.
Perhaps G4S should reimburse the police and military at the alleged contract rate of £8.50 hour stipulated by Locog."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

And this is what we put up with.
These guys got 12 hours notice they were going. They have just finished an 18 hour shift, and have 6 hours until the next one. Where are they billited?
Why were then not put where the G4S guards SHOULD have been? and why are G4S not paying for it - or at least somewhere for them to sleep?0
