Olympics Security bailed out by army..

actually, you will prob find that use of the armed forces for peacetime operations like this, should be a last resort. not as a first choice like the goverment is doing. we are not employed to stand in for whoever decides to go on strike for more money, usually when they are actually on more than us anyway!!!!
as for bonuses, no we aint getting a bonus as such for doing it, unlike the police and every other company/force that is doing it.
If the Army had been the 1st choice we wouldn't have had G4S cocking it all up in the 1st palce (we'd have had the Army cocking it up instead;)) .
Are the Police getting bonuses? My understanding was they were getting overtime where appropriate & whatever their equivilent of IEA, LSSA etc. I suspect that G4S aren't paying bonus either0 -

I suspect far from getting bonuses most G4S staff willl be on the equivalent of NMW with London allaowance. WOnder if they will be sleeping under bridges like the millennium guys?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

A story that turned out to be propaganda guff from Prescott.0 -

I think you are misunderstanding me - I mean unemployment is high, therefore G4S should be able to find people (for employment to service their obligations under this contract) easily.
I did see this on twitter though:150 G4S staff should have arrived at one of the Warwickshire Olympic “island sites” to be accredited today. Only 1 turned up.
And I thought perhaps its somewhat simplistic to blame it all on G4S though clearly leaving recruitment till the last minute is a fools game...0 -

Guess they needed some form of both Golden Handshake and Handcuff to make them committed.
Apart from the dubious high profile link of the Olympics I would be surprised if they get many sign up for 3 weeks at the minimum wage."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

OK sleeping on coaches then;)"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Disgusting if it was.
Here's a response that even the Graiunad published, having picked-up the story from Prescott and pumped it for all it was worth (not very much):
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jun/07/diamond-jubilee-volunteers-nothing-to-hide?CMP=twt_gu
Yes, in case anyone was wondering, that is the same Grauniad that uses unpaid 'interns'.
And here is another take on it (admittedly from the lousy-in-the-opposite-way Mail):
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2155650/Jobless-Jubilee-stewards-dismiss-exploitation-claims.html
More propaganda spun by Labour and its chums in the media that has seeped into the public memory as 'fact', to be regurgitated by the clueless.0 -

The response in the Guardian is from the woman who runs the company - and it looks full of holes to me - her word against theirs at the very best.0
