QueenB, maybe they want to do it earlier. There's a limit period to do 4D scans because after certain week (I think it was the 28th) the baby is quite big and you might or might not get a good quality scan. As they charge you for that and its purpose is usually to see the face, and not for medical reasons, in their websites they usually say that 4D scans can be done between certain weeks, maybe you are too close to their "limit"?

LM, I bought Battlestar galactica: the plan today, well, DH bought it for me :) the rest I am watching on Sky, they repeat those series every now and then, we just have to keep an eye and start recording. When I first put sky I thought I was not going to use it or watch much tv, but it tturned out I was wrong!!! We both got into lots of series: Game of Thrones, True Blood, Walking Dead and old ones like Stargate, BG and Sopranos, among many others. We were with BT before but spending a fortune because we were getting charges because of exceeding internet usage, we then went unlimited, which.was.about £30-£35 with the phone, but their "unlimited" internet is capped during certain hours and the speed is reduced, we both use the PS3 in multiplayer, which meant we had a lot of lag and disconnection issues. Sky's unlimited package has no cap and they don't restrict speed, so we switched and decided that for just about £10 extra a month we could give the tv a go. We discovered a new world of recording and viewing whole series lol. But that's our "hobby", tv, PS3 and internet (and dining out), we don't spend a penny in going out other than to a restaurant. Some people worry that the baby will change their lives and stop them from doing stuff, I keep telling my DH that we will probably start to go out a lot more and go to places with the baby!! Lol This baby is sure going to make us leave the sofas more and see the outside world more often!!!

I went shopping with DH to try to find some wellies. We walked the whole Trafford Centre (not small) and by the end of it I could barely move at all. But I found some boots!! DH bought me a pair of Dr Martens Wellies, exactly the same look as Dr Martens but in wellies' material and fully waterproof, so the water cannot go inside through the hooks or anything. I did not know they even existed, but I am dead chuffed with my present, I probably had not bought them myself because of price, but DH said that they should last a decade, so bought them for me. I had another embarrassing moment when I could not get the boots out in the shop, my DH was pulling with all his strength and the seat I was on started to move with me on it!!! I tried three models and I had the same problem with all of them because I had no socks and the rubber just stuck to my leg!!! Plus swollen ankles do not help!! I need to sort out the laces before putting them on, they are very tight atm, but the great thing is that I can adjust the whole leg. Then I invited DH to L.a Tasca for a great tapas meal, they had a menu with 3 tapas and a side for £10, which was great. I had a brilliant day but I am aching all over, I can't remember being so uncomfortable ever hip hurts, I cannot walk properly and baby is kicking my lungs so I talk loud and fast then get out of breath. But no biggie, really. I guess everyone is uncomfortable at this stage and I am lucky it is only because of that.

My mw said today that baby is already quite low, she wrote "ceph long eng", so I guess she means head down and engaged, but idk what the long refers to... her position? Her size? Both the physio and the mw have given me advice for labour "in case I don't see you before that", it has made the whole thing very real and close, especially because my next appointments are in 6 and 13 days!!!

I am going to shut up now, I always end up posting huge walls of text!!!

I like it when you come and update marta. Nice to have stuff to read :)

Glad you finally got some boots and how nice of your OH to treat you to them.

I'm also a collector of tv series. Friends, Buffy and Angel are my favourites though I do have Sex and the City, Lost and a few others. OH has the best intentions of watching them with me but we always end up watching usual tv stuff or he falls asleep. He works so hard bless him. I do wonder whether he'll burn himself out :( I used to do my best to show him how much I appreciate what he does but I no longer have the energy to do anything. Can't be bothered to get up and pee let alone cook him a nice meal.

Really wish I could do more for him :( definitely don't deserve someone as sweet and kind. I know I may complain about him but I love him so much!

Oh, that's so sweet!! If you cannot be bothered to cook, you could get in the shopping his favourite beer or something that does not require much preparation. I love cooking but lately I have not been as enthusiastic either. I get tired easily just by standing up! So we have been dining out a lot lately!!! We still have some restaurant vouchers from the Tesco double value exchange offer, so I predict a couple extra dinners, lol. Great stuff those vouchers. It's like dining out for free, since we don't spend any more than usual to get them. The sane reason I love the advantage points from Boots, I am also going through their website when I buy online in other shops, like HMV, mothercare or B&Q, so I get the points from the Boots Treat Street. I think I have like £65 in points, from buying the usual stuff but when the offers are on plus using as many extra points vouchers as possible!! I bought at
the beginning of the year a £50 hair dryer with points as well, but with the baby club and the triple points weekend I have stacked quite a lot all of a sudden again!! I am a points card enthusiast, though, I always use them and I always ask for discounts in store. What I am very curious about and I always forget to ask is how LadyMorticia wins all that stuff she has got in her signature!!! Share the secret!!! Lol

There are series I watch with DH and others I watch in the morning on my own or with subtitles on and without volume whilst he is sleeping at night, lol.

Last NHS parentcraft/antenatal class tomorrow, not sure what it will be about, do they show you stuff like changing a nappy or bathing? Or maybe breathing techniques for labour? We had seen early signs of labour, pains and postures, breastfeeding, relaxation (which was exactly the same as the first 15min of my hypnobirth CD), pain relief, and "special, not straightforward labour". Idk what might be left.

17 days until EDD!!!! Gosh, I am freaking out now, suddenly everything is too close too soon!!!

    Moring Ladies,

I know I haven't been active on this thread but wanted to let you know that baby Kavics arrived on 20st November after a long, 25 hour labour. She is beautiful and feeds like a pro. I had a positive birth, i managed not to use any kind of pain relief for 24 hours (apart from water, I didn't like my tens or gas&air) but ended up with a light epidural in the last hour as baby got stuck and I was at risk of having a c section. The epidural gave me enough strength to push baby out, she arrived shortly after. I haven't teared, baby weighs 3.67kgs.

    Good luck everyone waiting!
  • Hi Kavics
Congratulations on the safe delivery of your beautiful daughter! I have been following your story and I hope Little One brings you much love and happiness x
Daydreambeliever- sorry to hear about your awful experience on what should've been a routine visit. Those numpties at the hospital-grrr. I can tell you that there is a well known condition called 'White Coat Syndrome', which is where some patients get anxious while being checked by a health care professional. This can send your vital signs sky high. I have frequently measured a raised BP on someone, so I go off and do something else, then come back and recheck the BP again 10-20 mins later. It has often reverted back to normal by then, especially if the patient came rushing in late for the apt/had been climbing stairs/has pain issues etc etc. Sorry to go on - I know the docs have to be vigilant for pre-eclampsia etc, but there is a right and wrong way to talk to a patient! Good on your mother for sticking up for you too!
Although I am not here v often, I do dip in and out to catch up with you (Blame it on having five kids, stressy job etc etc!). I am almost 34 weeks pg and have been off work with a work-related injury for a few weeks. Had a row with my teenager daughter on Sunday and ended up going into hospital with threatened pre-term labour...contractions+++ They kept me in for monitoring and everyone was super-nice, but not happy when I insisted on going home that night. I just needed a good night's rest and I could not get any sleep on that ironing-board type delivery bed - ouch for my SPD. I now have to go in for frequent monitoring and scans. The important thing is that baby is doing well for dates-hurrah!
    ***Good luck Ladies***

  • Hi peeps,

First of all congrats to all those who are expecting, hope it all goes well for you.
I have a couple of question if anyone would be so kind to help.
I've signed my friend up for some of the baby clubs but i just wanted to know:

    • If you sign up to the asda baby club how long do the voucher last for, i havent printed my friends vouchers off yet and was hoping to hold out until after xmas to get her free starters box. is it best to print them now or can i wait until i need to get them? print or not to print
    • Does anyone know when the next asda baby event is as i believe the start boxes are cheaper then
    • Can you get baby booklets/magazines in other languages, in particular bounty and other nhs ones?
    TIA

Congratulations Kavics, wishing you much happiness with your little girl :) thanks for updating us, I'd been wondering how you were getting on xx

Canuck, that sounds scary, glad you're home now and all seems well with little one

Marta - long stands for longitudinal, just means baby is lying in a vertical position rather than transverse (horizontal). Ceph is cephalic, which is head down. Sounds like your baby is fully engaged as well, wish mine was!

Rups, glad you got the palpitations checked out. I know they're a common pg condition, but it's the sort of thing that should always be investigated. Have a nice last 2 days of work, hope you'll enjoy putting your feet up from now on. Ignore your mum when she mentions your weight at this point, it's not helpful. Better still, have a hormonal pg meltdown at her ;) you can deal with the baby weight in the new year once baby's here safely xx.

Still no movement here, going to bumps and babes this morning to meet some of the NCT babies :) fingers crossed some cuddles will get my baby heading for the exit!
