Cotton wool - I think the pads are fine, we are planning on using those only. We do have some pleated stuff around the house too but not bought specially, and will be using Cheeky Wipes asap as well.

Lol, QueenB, I am not sure what it is, I have avoided buying stuff for ages, I cannot really afford a shopping spree, yet this last few days I bought: stretchy maternity trousers/ joggers, pyjama bottoms, nightie/long t-shirt, slippers, maternity bras, arnica bath soak, baby towel/robes, baby bouncing chair, cotton pads, cellular blanket, 2 fitted sheets, 2 flat sheets, Palmer's cream, wellies, gel insoles, mittens, ps3 game and a pacifier. Most of it is for the hospital bag or afterwards. The wellies were only £20, but I have not got any flat boots and if it rains/snows I do not want to risk a fall with the baby. I do not know why I suddenly became obsessed with the need to buy some wellies! I had been looking for some on offer for quite a while! DH also felt the urge to do stuff, and has put together the bouncing chair, the rocking stand for the moses and wanted to get the nursery ready asap.

He is convinced the baby will be early! I keep feeling her more and more around the cervix, like she is engaging, plus she does not stop moving, which DH thinks is a sign she wants to be out and see the world :) I have started to feel very light period-like cramps this week, but no obvious BH or any breast leaking. Unless I have not identified any of those. Idk, I think she will be late, he thinks she will be early, let's see!!

    Morning ladies :)

Happy due date Maddie and catbag! Can't believe it's me tomorrow!

Got to get up in a few mins as I have a friend coming for lunch, so I need to nip to Tesco and have a tidy round. Had a rubbish night's sleep though, so currently enjoying a lie in with the Today programme on the radio.

4th baby from our NCT group was born yesterday :) only 3 left now, think I'll end up being last, as the other 2 were due last Thursday. Hope it's not too much longer, I'm getting very impatient to meet our baby! :o

  • Morning, I've got the MW again today. Have been feeling yucky the past few days- not sure if it's a bit of a bug or just lovely pregnancy symptoms.

Hope everyone had a good weekend- it was lovely here but we are back to it being grey and rainy today which is a shame.

Cotton wool: From experience, we found the pads in the huggies newborn packs didn't last 5 minutes! They don't absorb water very well, so we couldn't wipe with them that easily. The large cotton wool pads are definitely the way to go rather than balls (too small to deal with poo) or pleats (the cotton wool ends up sticking to them). Waitrose do some really good square ones that are sometimes on offer, and Asda Little Angels round ones are quite good too (I stockpiled a load of these when they were on offer). The Waitrose ones are softer than the Asda ones. I've also used the cotton wool pads from the makeup section in Tesco (large ones) as they were cheaper than the ones in the baby section.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Morning ladies, hope everyone had a good weekend and managed to ensure the limited sunshine we had!
Been to my new doctors to register today, have appointments tomorrow with the doctor & the new midwife team, was worried about it taking some time as my old team kind of cut me adrift when I had my moving date which isn't ideal as I'm 37 weeks tomorrow!

Babys room has been painted and looks lovely, today we're going to put together the furniture & I'll start to unpack & wash so we have somethings ready should my lil lady decide to show up a little early - packing a hospital bag at some point as well would probably be a good idea now.

Re: cotton wool I've stocked up on the large pads following advice from friends, bought about 20 packs of the Asda little angel ones when they were on offer so hopefully they'll last a little while.

We have pads and cotton wool balls as we use the balls for bathing his eyes with sterile water and you have to only use each piece of cotton wool once in that instance so balls really help x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

  • Morning all,

Had a terrible sleep last night... Up 3 times for a wee and an uncomfortable pain in my lower back and down 1 leg- mum thinks it could be sciatica.

Our roast dinner yesterday was lush, and I managed to do 2 loads of washing at mums and cook off a chilli and a bolognaise (we still have no kitchen!)

I'm off to aquanatal in a bit.. Hope the gentle exercise might help my back, then round to a friends for lunch.

Thanks for the advice on the cotton wool, think my mum has got me balls do I will use those for babies eyes, I've got some of the huggies sheets, but will invest in cotton wool pads too.

As for bras... I have 2 soft cup bras from m&s I bought not long after I found out I was pregnant- my boobs grew straight away.. Went from a 32B ( well just about a B with padding) to a 34D... Pushing a DD! I've also got 2 maternity bras from m&s.
I will try and get properly measured for nursing bras but have no clue where to go if m&s and mothercare are not that good. Anyone know of anywhere in Southampton or Portsmouth or surrounding areas??

Hugs to all who need them and labour vibes to the boldies...

littlemoog, i want your energy lol. That is one thing i have not had this pregnancy, and have always been tired. :(

hope all is well. I have been sleeping so badly still so feel yuck. plus work is mega hard now esp with training the new girl so hardly have a few mins to breathe as well. sigh. two weeks will be like this now.:(

anyway with bras. i think i need a new one as mine is tight and i always go to Bravissimo. never ever again to mothercare. i got such an ugly one and also fit badly from there!! with regards to weight, i have gained a lot, but as people have told me, it seems to go on my belly but i have seen my legs, and face go bigger too. i have gained loads. wont stress about it now.lol.
