Thanks Savage. Its actually this facebook board that has awakened the carrying addiction in me!
Hence the need to look at as many as possible! I may have just bought my first woven wrap this morning :Tbut want a stretchy as well. I think part of it is also that I want junior to have something new of his/her own as well. Plus there seems to be a very good market for selling this kind of thing on. Not sure what colour I would like!

Don't be ridiculous, most of our stuff is second hand - we were given a lot by a friend and almost all the clothes I've bought have been second hand. Much better for the planet too - the planet your little baby is going to have to live in
Morocha - Totally agree with Savage - there is nothing wrong with second hand at all! Babies grow out of clothes so quickly that the smaller sizes have very little wear and tear on them. Let's face it - your baby isn't going to care if the clothes they throw up on are Primark or Baby Gap - nor will they care if someone else was wearing them first. And never underestimate how many clothes you will be given as gifts when baby arrives - so plenty of new stuff there!0 -
Your mum is right Rups as far as cost in Asda is concerned and it is good for basics as well. But we got given so much when DS arrived that we didn't need to buy very much at all until he was over a year old. However, babies don't HAVE to wear new - how are they going to know??? Just dress baby in a nice outfit when you see your mum and she doesn't need to know anything else! Lol!0

i know i am being silly, i know. With my DD we were given lots of second hand and used it all. This time we are better off maybe that is why i feel this way. Many of my friends have told me that for their youngest they spent a lot of money, just because they knew he would be their last baby. I kinda have this feeling, this baby is my last i am not known for wasting money, i am quite good saving and checking for deals.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0

But you have got some new stuff for baby Morocha! You got the pram and bottles and things. We mostly got new for DS as we honestly didn't know anyone who had baby stuff for us to use and DH was funny about getting things from peopl ehe didn't know. He's a lot better now thankfully. i didn't buy anything without a lot of research and finding as many discounts as I could. It also meant I didn't get anything that we haven't used!
If you want to do asomething for this baby then get them a little keepsake. DS has a memory box. We are planning to buuy him and junior bigger boxes and we are adding to them each year. nothing extravagnat. Thier scan pics, hospital bracelets, first haircut (don't laugh - I still have mine 37 years later!) coming home outfits, etc. DS has his first birthday cars, and first hallowe'en and christmas outfits in there too (hence the need for bigger boxes).0 -
Ad you aren't being silly. I understand the reaction - having it myself. I don't have to get anything for this baby at all but still want to look at things! lol!0

i guess it depends on the parents. if you want to then go for it.
with clothes, as mentioned here, i thought no harm with second-hand as they grow out of stuff. i actually also didnt mind second-hand stuff for stuff like bouncers etc but whoever has had kids etc have either passed their stuff on or got rid of it, so where we can get family to buy us stuff, then its nice or like my cousin's discount or vouchers etc.. all good hey?

Also i think i should explain, where i come from, no one wears second hand, my family was poor but my mum saved the whole year so every single year in december she will buy us new trainers, coats etc... once a year but it was new. There are no charity shops there.
When i came over here 6 years ago, they were something new and usual to me. I do shop in them but in the sales sometimes it costs the same to buy brand new( at least in the charity shops i have in my town).
My Dh doesnt do charity shops or second hand, neither does his brother.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0
