Ikkle how is you little one? Is hard being a full time mummy?Do you breastfeed?:smileyheaBaby Aida is here :j:j:jBaby fund - £3140/£60000

Darn it Savage - now there's another one on my short (long?) list!!!
I went for this one in the end but was picky on the colours I wanted, so ended up getting it from the Netherlands! Most sling libraries have one to try out it seems but very few UK sellers.
Colli - I think the calcium is because baby starts leaching yours later on and you need to get more in your diet to make up. Can't remember where I got that from though!
As for me, went to a home birth support group this morning (only found it two days ago and they meet once a month so if I missed this one I would be overdue before the next one!). Then off to the midwife where I booked my home birth... and discovered at 35 weeks that I'm already 3/5 engaged and it's the second reading I've had of my fundal height over my 'custom' growth chart's 90th percentile  Here's me thinking I'll be 2 weeks late and fighting off inductions... better start thinking things could happen at any point and get ready!! Anyone else of similar due date already engaged? She really had a good squash to find the head.0 -

I'm not the best person to ask hunni, hes absolutely gorgeous and I love him to pieces, he is the best thing I have ever done in my life. After being induced on the Thursday and finally having him via emergency section on the Monday I'm still a bit worn out but I since ended up back in hospital with cellulitis and a hematoma so spent more time there with my little man, am back home now on my 23 tablets a day so I rattle when I walk but I would do it all over again for him. So we haven't really had the normal start to family life but what we have had I've loved - I do breastfeed yes, although have had to do a top up feed by formula as well.
Thanks for asking xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I understood that if you got enhanced maternity pay, you don't get your bank hols added on as you can't be paid twice for one day that everyone else in your work is getting paid once for.
Bank holidays are just holidays, like any other. The confusion arises because they're taken on set days, but they're not government freebies nor do you have an automatic right to have a bank holiday off.
What your employer must give you is 28 days paid holiday a year. This may or may not include bank holidays. It's common to have your leave expressed as 20 days plus 8 bank holidays. This doesn't mean that the BHs are ringfenced. They're not and your employer could (if they could demonstrate a sound business need) dictate that you take your leave on a different day.
NB. I'm talking about full-time employees. There are exceptions, e.g. part-time (your leave is pro-rated) and self-employed (you're not 'entitled' to any leave per se).
I'd be a bit concerned if my employer were making a distinction between leave and bank holidays and would need to analyse the contract carefully."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Bamama,Fluffnutter and CL, thank you for your reply. My normal holiday entitlement is 29 day per calendar year plus we get the bank holidays. For Christmas and New year's day because the business is close, we take 3 days off from our holiday but we get 5 off in total (so the last working day is 21 Dec and we come back on the 2nd of Jan). Any ideas if that should apply to me too?Have the extra 2 days on top of the bank holiday?
I'm in the same boat, office is closed from 21st until 3rd Jan (the 2nd is a holiday too in Scotland) so by my reckoning I should get 8 extra days plus the other bank holidays. ACAS and the senior partner at work (employment law solicitor) agree but another partner doesn't so I'm still fighting it. I'm waiting for a response to a meeting they are having and if I don't get the extra days I've to write a grievance letter to make it official and then when my holiday year is up I can take it to an employment tribunal. I'm hoping it won't come to this though.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
So jealous of you ladies who get more than SMP
as on mat leave from middle of next month will be on the £135 ish per week from the start of next year
. Have managed to juggle holiday entitlement to get 14 months off though which is a bonus
Congrats twinkle :j
scottishchick our holiday entitlement over Christmas sounds similar to yours, decided not to fight it though as my company have no clue about rights and decided it would just be too much hasslehope you get yours, sorted
