ACAS have said because I get them every year then they form part of my contract (can't remember the term for it) also everyone else in the company get these extra days so they can't discriminate against me for being pregnant.
Yes, that makes sense. Despite not being part of a written contract, if something happens with regularity you can legitimately expect that to continue (e.g. if you have every wednesday off for 12 months, then it becomes part of your contract). Therefore these freebies have become part of everyone's leave allowance. If so then, you are quite right; they must be given to you too whilst on maternity leave.
I can't remember the term either."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Looks like a definite rash... not just bites.
I wouldn't worry too much.
Take it easy if you're feeling faint sweetheart. Don't get up too fast or anything xxx0 -

Shingles is incredibly painful, so unless your friend is in a lot of pain, I think it's unlikely that she has it. Have you had chickenpox? If so then you can't catch shingles from someone anyway.
Sorry to hear you are feeling dizzy :grouphug: I still get that when I'm in shops and things and it is horrible. I just have to sit down or get some fresh air.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Hi Rups, I'd second got it spend it. Shingles is really really really bad and really painful. If concerned I'd ring the doc though.
Wow - I'm amazed at all these bank holiday things - I need to get me a job! Downside of running your own business I guess.
26 weeks for me today. I read somwhere there's only 9 Sunday's left till Christmas, which is a scary thought cos 3 weeks after that will be around baby arrival time :eek:0 -
Morning ladies, hope we're all ok! Congrats Ikkle on your little bundle of joy, glad you're starting to feel a little bit more normal!
Rups- hugs for feeling dizzy, make sure you take your time standing and moving around, I still get funny spells but just think of all that extra blood etc rushing around your body, I scare myself sometimes when I sit and think, there's actually two people in my one body.. _pale_
Cake4brains- So glad they're helping youhow exciting finding out when you'll meet your little ones!
AFM- had my monitoring yesterday and found out i'm being induced on Monday  exciting, but very very scary. I obviously fully understand the whole pregnancy/childbirth thing and I got him in there, he's gotta get out! But it is honestly my biggest fear in life, actually being in labour. I can't wait until it's all over and done with I know i'll be so proud of myself but I am so so scaredHad growth in my urine and lots of white blood cells which the doctor said is the start of an infection so to try and drink lots of water and flush whatever it is out before it can turn into something nasty. Also developing a cold, can't stop sneezing, all happens at once, here! Been googling "nice" induction birth stories since yesterday afternoon and trying to reassure myself and it's not really working :rotfl:
Hope we're all having a lovely week! x0 -
mwah xxx you guys are so sweet. i wonder if we will ever meet face to face :0)
so weird because as a child, i am sure i had chicken pox and then i had it as an adult too. lol. so who knows what i can pick or not?
yes just that dizzy feeling is nasty:( saw another preg woman come out the train and she had to sit down. i asked her if she was ok and she said she felt faint. poor thing. i cant take the heat on trains etc but funny how at dinner, i wanted to pass out.i feel exhausted. i am so staying in bed on friday. s-d work. lol

FYI GISI - from the same NHS siteChickenpox and shingles
One you have had chickenpox, you usually develop antibodies to the infection and become immune to catching it again. However, the virus that causes chickenpox, the varicella virus, remains dormant (inactive) in your body's nerve tissues and can return later in life as an illness called shingles.
It is possible to catch chickenpox from someone with shingles, but not the other way around.
Gonna finish the rest of my packing and stick my soup on. Shall be back for a chat if anyone's still around.0 -
Here I am! Boss is being funny... pretending to be me in labour, on the phone to hear because she's had to ring to find out where something is in the unit XD only cause she knows when she puts something "somewhere safe" that she'll never find it again without me0
