  • Today I have had (so far):

    A fig
    Two satsumas
    A vanilla crown
    An apple and cinnamon flapjack
    A can of cherry coke
Almost a whole Zizzi quattro stagioni pizza
    A packet of white maltesers
A bottle of Lucozade carribbean crush.

I was very relieved when my GTT came back normal - and I've actually lost fat (probably not weight) since being pregnant. Clearly I drank far too much before!

Cake, twins are expected to come a little early, and you're counted as term at 37 weeks - I wouldn't worry too much. Go and see what the hospital have to say for you :)

Hmmm, back from my midwife appt which wasn't too bad. She had a 3rd year student with her who did most of the appt, she just tested my urine sample & then told me about the GTT which they've decided I need as my grandad is diabetic & to my best knowledge I think my Dad is too. Has anyone here had the GTT? What's it like? And has anyone been diagnosed gestational diabetes at all? I'm just curious now it's been thrown into the mix :)

Looking forward to going home after work today seen as I've had to come back for a clinic after my appt. I'm ready to curl up with the furries, have something nice for tea (maybe a jacket potato after reading about them on here!) & chill out a bit before getting an early night me thinks :)

Oh, and thankyou to everyone who's reassured me I'm not a completely over-sensitive pregnant woman after my rant earlier :) It's nice to know what others think without actually being judgemental & telling me what to do!

I've not got gestational diabetes, but I did have the GTT - I'm higher risk because of my BMI.

It was really quite boring really, nothing to write home about. They took a blood sample, made me down a big bottle of original Lucozade (which tastes foul), then took another blood test an hour (two hours?) later. The only rubbish thing about it is that it's a fasting test so you can't eat from the night before, so it's worth trying to get the earliest possible appointment. Take a book!

And a cushion! our hospital bloods department has the most uncomfortable chairs imaginable, and you're not supposed to walk around much (I was told only to loo and back etc) so after 2 hours my bum was so numb! I felt a bit funny for the rest of the day, probably due to blood sugar spiking and then crashing, but my results were normal.

I wouldn't think so, unless it's in the immediate family they only test for it if you're high risk (BMI>30 at booking in) or if they start getting sugars in your urine sample at appointments. No need to worry about it otherwise :)
