Oh... I would also like to inform you all that I'm feeling rather naked today, last night I decided to retire my nipple piercings (I was planning to keep them in until I could try and BF). My nipples have grown and were starting to swallow the balls. They can leave nasty scars if you leave them do that too long so it had to be done... not worth paying for longer bars for just a few weeks :(

morning sweet ladies. hope all is well.

Glad your man changed his mind scottishchick. i worry about mne just making it on time as well whenever my turn arrives. lol.

bamama i feel your pain about the ML! i am counting but its far so maybe i should start counting at the beg of November. you leave on the 7th right? when you wrote above, that i would prob give birth earlier, that scared me lol. i was telling my mum yesterday when i was at the hospital the other day, i was freaking out and saying i am not ready. she was like 'oh well if the baby is coming, its coming'. lol. she is so matter of fact.

at work and should start really. took me ages getting in as was trying a new route. am tired and that side pain is STILL there. was a bit worried about bubba as he/she was quiet, so am hoping today i get more movements otherwise back to hospital. lol

I think it's the 7th... may be a little earlier that week. Boss is still trying to figure out what I've got left in terms of holidays lol. Last I heard was that the 4th could be my last day because she forgot to count the Christmas holidays.

Didn't mean to scare you lol, just meant it would be my bad luck! The first date they gave me was the 26th, changed their minds to the 23rd when they measured squirmy. I'm thinking the 26th is more likely... I have a lil chart of mine and the OH's "activity" around that time so we're thinking later.

I've been meaning to ask if everyone here planned their pregnancies? And how long they'd been trying?

Hope bubba moves for you... give it a few jabs and tell it to wake up ;)

You rmum has a point Rups - if baby is determined to come out then it will. Equally if baby is comfy then it may need evicting. No way to know regardless of whether its your first, second, third or tenth! DS was born on his due date which fitted in beautifully with my ML last time. Am of the opinion that this one will be a little more awkward but whether it is early or late awkward i don't know! Am also beginning to suspect it may be a boy. No idea why!

Cold drink or something sweet Rups and see what that does. I had something sweet just a little while ago as junior had been awfully quiet this morning - as in no movement at all. usually he has a wee thump when he hears the Thomas the Tank Engine music. However, the something sweet has worked and he is doing a rhumba in my tummy.

I'm not officially on mat leave until 15th Jan (which seems like ages away!) but my last day at work is 8th Jan as I have some holiday to put in :) I've used a few days leave to reduce my hours from full time so as of the last week in November I won't be working more than 4 days a week which is definitely a nice thought, if a little strange as I'm so used to working full time or more!

I have a midwifes apt this afternoon, by sure what we'll talk about but it's booked & it's part of my antenatal care so I guess that's that :) My antenatal classes are already booked so she can't tell me about those so that's one thing off her list! And she's not getting blood out of me when I have I go & deliver a clinic after my appt so that's another thing, I'll go to phlebotomy at the local hospital & they can take the the blood on Monday!

Congratulations ikkle!!! Sounds like a bit of a nightmare but the little man is here now & I bet all is near enough forgotten! I hope you're enjoying mummy snuggles as we speak :)

We got a grilling / lecture from my parents last night about our cats :( I'm probably just being hormonal but it really upset me. It started when they order found out we were pregnant & they asked were we getting rid of our cats now we had a baby on the way?!? Erm, no, obviously not. Frustrating considering I was brought up with a cat in the house from being a baby & my step mum has had a cat with both of my younger half sisters through being pregnant & having both of them. My parents have been to our home no more than a couple of times since we've lived there (we're talking years) so don't know our cats at all, they keep going on about how they like warm places (ie the cot) & things that smell of milk (ie the baby) & the possible consequences are horrendous (ie baby is going to get smothered). Yes, I have big cats but they show no interest whatsoever in our food or milk (I could leave a plate of food on the sofa & they'd not bat an eyelid). They go on about how cats don't like change & will get jealous when Bean arrives but we've had 2 foster cats come through our apartment with no problems whatsoever & that's major change for cats, especially when it was just our 2 boys & we introduced a foster female!!! And the biggest issue they have is that the cats currently sleep in our bedroom. However they do not sleep on our bed, have no interest in sleeping on our bed & actually sleep on the windowsill where we currently have the windows on the latch so it's pretty drafty on the windowsill itself. I just felt like they think we're a pair of complete morons, who have no clue how to bring a baby up (it's our first) but do they not think we're looking into things & looking into the best way to introduce Bean to the house & cats without causing major problems?!? I got that frustrated & upset that I was tempted to tell them I'm going to start breast feeding the cats if they like milk so much!!! Am I just being hormonal & they're being completely reasonable?!? (Sorry for the rant)

Onto a more positve note, we went to look at a cot we've been thinking of getting last night. We found an amazing little nursery shop in Sheffield, PM me if you'd like the details, I can't recommend them highly enough! We're looking at the Stokke Sleepi Mini + extension pack. It is a pretty fab cot & it's better once you've seen it in person, it's definitely looking like top of the list!

Hope everyone is well, labour vibes & cuddles to those who need them!

thanks nephthys. will do that. i felt bubs earlier. think he/she is resting lol. will get somehting cold/sweet or fizzy at lunch as at stupid work and we dont even have a vending machine. need to wake it up a bit. :)

that pain is p1ssing me off though as its annoying and just there. i took paracetamol and i know i was at the hospital on monday but just dont know whether to call labour ward again..

ohhh bamama thanks for reminding me, i might ask HR about the xmas holidays so i could leave earlier!! yay!!:) yeah we planned ours. The one before just happend and we werent really being careful but i lost that bubba at 5-6 weeks in January this year. :( i had got so excited as well and it caused me to crash down badly. had the surgery to get it out as well as body was carrying on as normal. then when i recovered, i pestered dh to try again and this time, i was couting ovulation days etc and am glad we managed to make this little one, who i cant wait to see. Thats why iget so anxious at times and over-worried but then try and relax also and enjoy it. :) so when bubs is being naughty and quiet, i want to wake him/her up! Lol

  • I'm off on mat leave at 30 weeks so have two and a half months off before the baby arrives, and if go as overdue as with my first will have three months off! Struggling already so really glad I decided to leave so early, actually leave at 29 weeks due to hols.

We were trying, getting pregnant seems t be the easy but for us, but keeping them harder, still paranoid now thou even though 25 weeks :(

mrsB I don't think you're being hormonal, you seem to have considered all the aspects and there's not really much more you can do than that til the baby's actually here! I did have one friend play noises of crying babies to theirs though to get them used to the noise :rotfl: and this is coming from a furry-allergic animal avoider!
  • Whilst I would never say not to call labour ward if you are worried, Rups, I would say that you should get used to aches and pains for the next ten weeks or so. Both times I have found late pregnancy extremely sore and uncomfortable and am in complete envy of those who just sail through.

Np for the reminder lol but Rups :( sorry to hear that you lost a lil one so early on.

Squirmy kinda took us by surprise. We'd only been together a year and were looking at houses. I'd been on the pill since I was 19 and it just wasn't agreeing with me any more.. I shouldn't have been having periods or just having light ones but they were heavy and lasting ages (longest was 16 days... my usual was 5). After talking it over with OH we decided that I'd just stay off it and we'd see what happens. Had 1 period in March, April was late and decided to take a test after I was 4 days late (I'd always been pretty regular and I probably jumped the gun but something was just telling me to take one). 19th April got a big positive after a matter of seconds. Had to take a second one the day after because I thought the test was faulty! The same week we found out we could rent the house we're in now :) so we were pretty lucky.
