Clarissa my bump measured only 36 or 37 yesterday I think, but it's following the general curve on the graph thing in my notes so is normal apparently. Plus the midwife said it's not just the baby it's the whole measurement of your bump from the top down to the pubic bone so it's all the fluid etc in there too! I've also got 3 packs of 24 maternity pads and am taking a whole pack to hospital, whenever I get there! I had 3 other packs of 10 and can't find them anywhere ...
I had a bad night last night, tossed and turned with cramps and feeling sick, and baby really active, really thought something was happening! Back to normal today though humph.
I read online that Evening Primrose oil can help and some women even insert it vaginally and it helps baby come, not sure it sounds like a good idea though?
Finally I got my Little Lamb bamboo nappies today, 10 and 6 wraps. The disposable liners haven't come yet but I didn't realise the nappies came with fleecy liners anyway. I guess a good idea to not use the fleecy liners to save on washing and just use the disposables so you can flush the poo away? Anyone already use these?
P.S. Sorry to hear about your family situation sexymouse, my thoughts are with you *hugs*. My family are pretty crazy to be honest. My mum has been over the last 2 days and has been stressing out about every little thing which doesn't help me, even though she has done some housework, which I'm grateful for. My dad ... don't even go there!0 -
For those that have done or started hospital bag packing how many bags do you have and what size are they? I've just made a good start on mine, would say I'm 50% there and I have already filled two bags. Both large primark holdall types. Surely I can't need 3 bags?!0

Little miss moneysaver - the curry did absolutely nothing, along with the other techniques which we've tried. I'm starting to think he'll come when he is ready.. lol!
Thanks to all regarding maternity pads - if all goes to plan won't be at hospital too long as hoping to use the birthing centre (discharge 2 to 6 hrs after birth!) so think i'll have enough!!

Hi girls, hope alls well i havent had a chance to back track this thread moves so fast!
Last time i posted i was feeling very ropey, luckily as the others suggested i think it was just a off day as it eased off. Just cant shake off the tierdness!
Hope you dont mind me asking a couple of questions for those that are more further on than myself...
Iv just been researching the NCT antenatal classes...WOW! They want £205 for a session which is evenings or £167 for a two weekender! I had no idea these would be so expensive.
Are they worth it? Is it worth the money?
It is my first child, im 14 +3 at the moment but was told by my midwife to register on the course asap because they get booked up. I am entitled to the NHS classes where there are two at a local church which i will probably attend i just wanted your opinions/experiances.
Id probably be going more for the social side also.
Thank you!Married Hubby 21/03/12...First Bubba due 13/01/130 -

I'm 29 weeks tomorrow, and have booked onto both the NHS and NCT classes, although my midwife said you definitely dont need to do both.
The NHS ones I have been booked onto are 2 x two-hour sessions on consecutive thursdays in my area, and are supposedly just quite fact-based, with very little social side
The NCT ones - well I was signed on to some classes to run in August (I'm due October) but after I paid £170 they cancelled them due to poor attendance, re-booked me onto some September classes (which was a slightly shorter courses, so I got a £25 refund). I do feel that they are pretty late (I'll be 36 weeks plus), but am still looking forward to them. Its two Saturdays 10-4 and one evening 7-9, so 14 hours in total, so works out to about £10/hour. Hopefully it will be worth it. I'm going for the social side really too, as I've met some lovely people at Pregnancy Yoga but no-one I could arrange a meet up with etc yet0 -
Hubby suddenly got keen on buying baby stuff and whisked me off on the spur of the moment to Kiddicare. Considering we weren't going to even look for the big bits until September that was a bit of a shock! I can't believe how much it has changed since I last went, the pram section is enormous. I must have spent 2 hours pushing around and trying out various combinations. Hubby was desperate to buy there and then, but I couldn't make my mind up, and I could see him starting to despair at how long it was taking. I took so long that we had to give up and go get the kids from school, so we'll have to go back in the morning once I've decided.
The biggest shock for me was how much everything costs now, so many basic bits seem to have doubled in cost in the last eight years, and my must buy list got a lot longer. Things we'd dismissed as unnecessary (and they really are!) like a vibrating musical chair for baby are now on the must have list because hubby enjoyed playing with them in the shop.
I'll have to spend the night researching the buggies and looking at reviews before we go back. Has anyone bought a Hauck travel system or buggy? They are so much cheaper than everything else, but they did seem a lit more flimsy so that was the one I really wasn't sure about.Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
Hi KatyLiz, we found the Haucks to be flimsy. In fact I'd commented on one brand saying to the sales lady in BabiesRUs, 'oh that one feels a bit flimsy' and she said to us 'Avoid the haucks then, you definitely won't like those'0

We went to the NHS classes, but we had about 4 x 2 hour sessions. They were fantastic and I feel more than prepared. I guess there wasn't really a social aspect to them and not much time to spend with other parents to be. You don't need to join the NCT to go to their coffee mornings, etc. I'm a "Facebook fan" of my local NCT group and they advertise meetings and get togethers on there, so might be worth looking up.Wins 2015:

When did the NHS classes get mentioned to you all? I'm at 20 weeks (had my scan) and no-one has mentioned any antenatal classes at all. I've booked NCT ones in any case (months ago!) but would really like to tour the hospital which I'm sure will only happen on the NHS ones.0

NCT v NHS: We did the free NHS ones as couldn't justify £260 for NCT ones. NHS ones were 4 free sessions of 2 hours each and were useful. Had to find out details from my hospital Community Midwives Team by ringing up.
Savage you should be able to get a tour of your hospital/birthing centre if you ring up the hospital or Community Midwives Team – that's what I did. You might not get the tour via classes.
Bellola I just have one main rucksack of stuff for me and a small rucksack for the baby for when I go into labour. I thought rucksacks would be easier to carry and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a specific bag. Any bag would do I think.
Still experiencing some minor cramps, am hoping that it could be the precursor to labour!0
