Distilled witch hazel is what I used on maternity pads pressed against my section scar. The MW said to use for that or on pads as you would usually wear them. If you keep it in the fridge it helps. You get it in Boots.

Apparently you shouldn't get fitted for nursing bras til 37-38 weeks, as size may change again, but if you feel your bras are tight now I'd go and get fitted anyway - if you buy nursing ones you can always get refitted if your size changes, but if not then you don't need to buy any extras! My size hasn't changed since about 10 weeks, so I'm still wearing wired bras.

I got distilled witch hazel in Boots, had to ask as it was hard to find. Arnica tablets you can also get in Boots, but I'm not bothering as you can only get homeopathic ones, and I don't believe in homeopathy. (*impressed with self for phrasing that so politely*:rotfl:) The Cusson's New Mum bath soak has actual arnica in though, so I was thinking of getting that, but who knows if there'll be time for a bath! :rotfl: It's available in all the supermarkets, so will just send DH to get it if I need it.

I love Bravissimo! I so wish they would open a shop over here!!! Rups - I didn't get nursing bras last itme til 38 weeks (or about 39). I stayed in a soft cup maternity bra before that. in fact have been in softcups for 2 years now. A little part of me is looking forward to when i can go back into underwires!

Savage - Lansinoh breast pads are probably very good - I just preferred the Tommee Tippee ones. I think the witchazel is distilled and just gets sprinkled on the pads. Apparently very good and best kept inthe fridge for cooling properties. i also had lavender oil and tea tree oil and put a few drops in a nightly bath to help heal the stitches from the episiotomy - that helped me a good bit too.

My baby is doing something weird, feel like they're pushing with their feet against my ribs/diaphragm and wiggling their head against my cervix! OUCH! I have loads of pressure down below now as well - is this the head engaging? I actually yelped out loud a few minutes ago and one of the blokes across the office came pelting across to see if I was alright! :rotfl:

Congratulations to punkpink and shery :) You've both got babies even dinkier than mine!

Little Moog - I had loads of pressure from about 35 weeks and I think I was 3/5 engaged then. I can remember everything started to feel swollen and heavy down below, it was so strange.

Totally off topic, but my DH just sent me this news story about a "lion" sighting in our town
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/9592589/Lion-on-the-loose-in-Bedford-big-cat-sightings-reported.html

This line totally cracked me up: "The animal was last seen heading off in the direction of a neighbouring pig farm. Locals speculated that it could have been a pig." lol

I am waiting to get nursing bras as well. At the moment I am permanently wearing sports bras, the soft crop top style, and I am fine so far, but I am only a C at the moment. I have a couple of underwired ones for the day that I sometimes use, but the sports bras are comfy for the night, so I end up wearing them the whole day sometimes.

Savage, I bought the Witch Hazel from Home Bargains, quite a big bottle I think.

I bought some maternity clothes and tunic tops on ebay, everything fine but there is one item I received with little stains all over, you cannot see them on the pic they uploaded, but it is a white top and it is very noticeable for me at close range. I contacted her and she denies it!! Grrrr... I have sent her the pics, but she has not replied yet. She asked me to return the item "to have a look", but I spent only £3.6 or so (including postage), so if I return it with a traceable system, I will be losing out even if she refunds the whole thing. I can't believe how cheeky some people are.

I dreamt I was preparing my hospital bag!! That might be my subconscious telling me to get ready. I have a small cabin suitcase with wheels, I think I might use that.

Middle name: With "Sophia" first, I can think of names like "Valerie", "Catherine", "Ruth", "Jasmine", "Jennifer",. Consider the whole set of initials, you might not want to put a middle name like "Tracy" if your surname starts with "D" (S.T.D.), or similar combinations that might prompt kids to make jokes. I would also choose a middle name that starts with a different letter other than "A", because that is the last vowel in "Sophia" and it might get hard to pronounce, like "Sophia Anne".

  • marta you can just go to the post office and get proof of delivery with ordinary 2nd class as that doesn't cost anything?

I used Tesco maternity pads with my 1st, needed considerably more than the two packs I bought initially! Also can't see how ordinary ones would be any use as the maternity ones are huge in comparison! Did have knickers two sizes bigger to start with so they fitted!

I liked the lansinoh breast pads but so expensive so just stuck with Tesco. The backings on the sticky pads were really static and stuck to everything so spent months after I'd finished using them still finding them in random places round the house!

rups if you're looking for a pram but feeling overwhelmed do you have an independent pram shop near you? Ours was amazing for the advice we were given.
