Evening Ladies,
Twinkle i'm glad things went well for you and you have a set date for bubba to arrive -how exciting!
The excitment seems tohave hit me so much today...i sat last night for about 3 hours surrounded by baby catalogues and lists whilst DH watched the ryder cup...i want to go and buy everything now!!!
Just a quick question if i may....I had trouble joining the boots baby club (ended up doing it through their customers service team). They have told me my welcome pack can take up to 6 weeks to come through - by then i'll be 30 weeks and hopefully will have most bits sorted. I just wondered what you actually get for joining the boots club? Are the vouchers useful? Should i hang on and buy stuff at boots or just get on with being organised?
I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and its finally hit me that i've only got 16 weeks left and need to get myself sorted. I haven't got anything for my hospital bag yet -i haven't even got a bag! The sum of my baby shopping so far is a selection of nappies and some vests and baby grows!! I my head writing lists helps...but it wont help if i don't actually buy anything on it!!!

sorry...forgot to say congrats to KatyLiz!! Hope you're enjoying lots of mummy cuddles x0

Personally I didn't find the boots club particularly useful. Some of the vouchers were ok and you can use them on top of offers so it's great if there's a baby event on. Some of them weren't useful like the folic acid and the multivitamins as I got them from tesco.
Tip: you get a coupon for a free changing bag if you buy a pack of pampers - the bag isn't very big but it's ok. I got mine during a baby event and somehow I only paid half price for the nappies (I think it was buy 1 get one half price and it took the changing bag as my 1 and the nappies were half price). So you could potentially buy a box for half price then.
Whether it's worth to hang on, I'd say it depends on what you're after and how picky you are. For example, there's a lot of mixed reviews about various maternity pads so I was quite happy to get mine from there and use my voucher then. On the other hand, I wanted a medela swing which is a lot cheaper on amazon so I never used my boots TT voucher. Also, I'm not someone who needs to have everything ready weeks in advance so I'm happy to wait. Others may not be that happy...:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0 -
Boots vouchers. I got mine while there was a 342 on.
I had the free changing bag when you buy pampers nappies, free Avent mum to be pack when you spent £xx, Free Avent teats or breast shells and some others.
So I got:
Changing bag (marked up as £30.63)
Avent Mum to Be Set (£15.75)
Pampers Newborn Nappies size 2 62pk (£9.49)
Avent 125ml bottle £5.50
Avent teats 1m+ £4.99
Mini Club full of love body suit. £4.
I got the nappies and body suit free because of the 342, the changing bag free for buying the nappies, the avent mum to be pack free for buying the avent bottle and teats, Free pack of teats with the voucher.
So paid £5.50 for it all.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Might look a bit greedy if you organise your own Rups, I didn't have one, wouldn't really have felt comfortable having one but each to their own. I think if you were to have one it would be better if a friend or relative organised it and you can have them at anytime. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Argos £15 off £50 in any car seat except booster seats [exp 25/01/13]
Argos £25 off any 3 wheeler or Travel System pushchair [exp 25/01/13]
I might have a few more to share much later on, once e decide where we will buy the stuff!
By the way, I ordered the stuff from Mothercare but using the Boots Treat Street site, which gives you extra pointsThey also have a 500 advantage points voucher for new orders, I keep forgetting to add it, I hope it works next time!
Yes, just let me know which ones once you have decided where you are going to buy stuff. I won't be using them before the expire date, I think.
elisabeth, with Boots Club you get the free changing bag and mat with the purchase of any Pampers. You also get extra points in anything baby/nursery/maternity. Some of the vouchers you receive are above. For me, it is worth, because I do buy a lot in Boots. I also use the Boots Treat Street site whenever I buy somewhere else, I got Advantage Points for buying a new dishwasher at B&Q and stuff at Mothercare. I currently have £45 in points, and I spent another £45 at the beginning of the year in a new hair dryer.
By the way, that is an amazing deal ikkle!
Other parenting club websites: I have registered with Emma's Diary, but I did not feel it was worth, the Argos vouchers are not that good to me, too limited in some cases. I have also registered with Mothercare, I used their £15 off £150 online to buy the Stokke Carrier and the moses... plus I used the Treat Street to get Boots Advantage points too. I registered with Tesco but received nothing. I registered with Cow's Gate to get the free cuddly toy, still waiting for delivery. I also registered with Aptamil to receive their free cuddly toy, lol. And I am thinking of getting the cuddly toy from Andrex, you just have to buy a packet of Andrex (Tesco has them on offer 2 packets of 9 rolls at £7+) and pay the P&P, which is £3.99; it says it is suitable for all ages and UK/EU certified. Is there any other out there that is worth?
I am not having a baby shower, the family has sent money to buy baby stuff, and I am the first of my group of friends/people I know to have a baby, so I do not expect anyone to be overexcited or even wanting to organize one / participate in one. I do not really want to try and ask someone ... only to have like two people coming! :rotfl:
I won on eBay a Medela Swing Pump (new in box but unsealed, some bits are still sealed though, so I do believe it has had no use). It comes with 16 milk bags, 2 bottles with Calma Teat, spare pipes, filters and nipple cream. I paid £77 including p&p, but I am quite chuffed because it has 2 bottles with the teats in box, which anyway are £14 usually. I will see when I receive it, but I thought it was a good price; even if I do not get to use it, second hand ones sell for around £40-£50 if in good condition, so I would not be losing much if I sell the pump and keep the bottles. Thanks Savage for the offer on yours, though. I was pending on this auction.
I think now I just need bits and pieces, plus cotbed later on, but I will wait for the January sales for that. I need bedding or sleeping bags, clothes and a coat for baby, thermometers for water and room, bath (thinking of that tippitoes mini bath you posted), cold water steriliser plus Milton tablets, and probably a footmuff/cosytoes thing... are these standard? Can they be adapted to any pram? I do not think my pram has a specific one, I could not find it in their website. What should I buy then?Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

I think you can organise your own but I agree that it may be best for someone else to organise it for you... I don't think I was going to have one but I wanted one so I asked my bro's fiancee:jBaby girl born 3rd October 2012:j0

Marta - baby clubs can be a bit naff I agree although I've had the Aptamil and Cow and Gate teddies. Pampers if you sign up send you a box of 10 nappies and a small pack of wipes. Asda baby club if you sign up you can print two vouchers out to get two huggies newborn packs which have a full size pack of nappies, wipes and then either a hat or a blanket. They also each contain £5 in Huggies vouchers.
Cosytoes you don't have to use, you can use snowsuits and blankets things like that instead.
We are all set for weaning now lol. I bought some bowls, spoons, sippy cup things in the reduced section after the Asda baby event then last week won some pouches of Annabel Karmel baby food and this week won a Cow and Gate weaning kit.You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
