    Morning :)

marta - I'm another that is always awake, I just don't come on here at night. Like ikkle said it's usually quiet anyway so I tend to turn my laptop off and concentrate on my cross stitch all night.

According to my community MW the 3rd trimester started at 27 weeks, but my consultant said 28 lol! It is confusing.

I can't even talk about labour now, it's getting too scary and close.

I narrowed my name choices down to a list of 5 last night. Hopefully that'll keep DH happy.

Good morning all, I must be one of the lucky ones, I go to bed at half 10 & normally sleep right through until 7am :-) i do love my bed.
Less then a week to go now Ikkle! When do you think Jakey is going to make an appearance?
I don't worry about labour, as long as shes healthy, the bits after like being able to have skin to skin contact & breastfeeding worry me most.

What names have you got KatyLiz? We really like Maisy/Maisie but can't decide how we would spell it
  • good morning ladies - see im top of the list, well STILL no baby here.

40+10 today, and not a CLUE where this baby is. after having an early baby and a due date baby, not entirely sure whats gone wrong here. very sure of dates as we were trying and OV testing etc. had a couple of sweeps and im good to go, at 2-3cm already but its just not taking off. scanned on monday and hes looking at about 9lb now so im going in tomorrow for induction, as they are worried about him getting too big. so it means no homebirth for me, which ive done all my crying about now. Very very scared of hospitals tho, so im hoping to deliver and head home again fairly swiftly, although im not sure what hospital policy is. After having my last baby at home i just assumed all would be fine, id go into labour and this one would be born at home too. so thats where i am.

moneypuddle - your post there really captures what ive been trying to tell DH for a few days regarding my fears about the hospital. hes just focussing on us definitely meeting our baby in the next few days, but im worried about him too, his only experience is homebirth, so im worried a hospital birth will be hard for him, especially if i end up needing the drip.

It's natural to be scared about your upcoming labour. God knows I was, and, like moneypuddle, I'm petrified of hospitals and medical procedures in general.

As a recent graduate, I just want to reassure you all that it's truly, honestly OK. I won't come out with platitudes about how it's not that painful and all that guff, but what struck me about it all is how natural it is. Despite your fears beforehand, once you go into labour, your body takes over and your mind just follows. It all becomes incredibly purposeful and the fear just leaves you. I was lucky to have two incredibly kind and calm midwives with me - it's important to have good support, not least because parts of labour are pretty boring!

It's amazing how much less frightening it is than you imagine. You will all be OK, I promise x.

Maisie's lovely, but I'd definitely do the 'ie', not the 'y'. It's the usual spelling, and I'm a stickler for normal spellings. Who wants to spend their life saying 'It's Maisy with a 'y'.'? It's not exotic, it's just annoying :D

    Jeez louise i hope so!
  • Have to totally agree with Fluff on all three previous posts! lol! As usual she calls a spade a ruddy shovel! I like that. :rotfl:

I'm not going to say don't be scared. I was and I am this time. I am totally terrified of going in to have this baby and not coming home - there I said it out loud. The terror is way worse this time as I have DS at home already and the thought of it is really upsetting me. However when I went into established labour (before that I had way too much time to think) I just went with the flow. In my hospital we have one on one care while in labour (midwife is there all the time, when she goes on a break another one comes into the room) and you are never on your own. This helped me a little. I was another one who had a good experience of pethidine - so much so that I plan to use it again when i need to. My memories of DS's labour are a bit fragmented as I was off somewhere else but the drug wore off before I had had him so I got him out on gas and air. Only thing I can say is try to relax, listen to your body and question the midwife if you are uncomfortable with anything at all (this was DH's job!).

My cousin's wee one is called Maisie. I like it with the -ie ending as well. Much easier than having to keep explaining how to spell it. However, name spelling is parental choice and you should do whatever you want! :)

    Hope you're doing ok, Sexymouse!

MMM - huge congratulations. Glad everything is going well for you!

Marta - I must confess to a love of Stargate too! Lol! And Star Trek! I love the fact that I can admit that out loud and no one knows who I am! DH makes fun of me for it!

Mummyoftwo - hope that baby comes out soon. I had a due date baby last time. Not sure what it'll be like if I go late this time! I hate being late for anything! :D
