I've heard that the Medela Calma is good as it avoids nipple confusion (if you are planning to breastfeed and only use bottles occasionally). If you look at how it works it seems to make the baby 'work' the nipple like it would have to for a breast - no 'work' no milk. (Plus, I've bought the medela pump, so makes sense to use those bottles as I think they fit - should check this weekend). I'm hoping to go largely without bottles at all at first anyway, then we'll see how we go later on with expressing if I need to be away from baby.

I saw them today, I think I might go with those or any other anticolic ones, either Tommy Tippee anticolic or MAM anticolic, idk yet!. The calma attachment works on all Medela bottles for what I read, and it so far I think it has better reviews than TT, which some people say leaks or fails sometimes.

I plan to breastfeed, but I am following the advice somebody gave here: plan in advance just in case baby does not know how to feed, I do not have enough milk, I mess it up, etc. I want a back up plan, plus I want to combine so DH can also bond with baby that way (and give me a rest!). I think both Medela and TT are designed to alternate breast and bottle, I don't know about the MAM one.

    Thank you!!!

    hello ladies...

been reading your posts and just in awe of you all! you lot deserve medals i swear! i think at your stage i would moan and moan but now i wont. :) ikkle and everyone else, i hope you are ok. sorry about the aches and pains. i really hope all the mummies waiting get to see their little ones very soon. if only men knew the things we go through!!!

just had a weird day today. managed to wake up at 11 but with a broken sleep and wee breaks but felt sluggish. went into town so could get stuff done - did nothing! it was too busy plus people in croydon were p1ssing me off so went and had lunch and just sat in the cafe and met my friend and her husband and went home. the house is a mess but i left it. poor dh had kung fu and he is shattered as hell but he had washed up when i got back and out the washing out (weirdly lol). also today for some weird reason, the BIL is not here so it is so nice just me and dh. even though we are sitting in silence. i thought i would let him be as he is tired. :)

bubbas been a bit quiet today. was getting worried but am going to see how it goes tomorrw... wanted to get my toe nails done but the place was shut so if can be bothered tomorrow, will go.

does anyone have days where the baby is not moving one day and some days you get movements like mad?

i still have to brave it up and research prams.. grroan. lol

  • Evening ladies,

I agree with Rups, some of you are having a horrible time of it and are battling on through, no choice I suppose but with minimal moaning so hats off to you! I had a very easy preg last time round- after the evening sickness finally went at 20 weeks, I got a toe infection at 35 weeks which meant I had to stop work earlier than i'd hoped but that was all. This time again the sickness lasted quite late- actual vomiting has been away since 17 weeks or so but the queasiness and gagging brushing my teeth is still hanging about at 22 weeks. I hope to work til 36+ weeks so fingers crossed.

I've been having proper kicks now for a couple of weeks and DD and DH saw my tummy moving last night and today which was lovely, DD who is 7 read the baby a story which was very sweet so we'll hopefully start doing this a couple of times a week to help her bond with baby, I can see she is going to be an awesome big sister.

We have made a decision today to stop discussing baby names with family/ friends as my mum and sister (mum who is usually fine but sis can be opinionated) have had a few negative things to say about a couple of very vague suggestions. DH and I have agreed to be quite blas! if asked again and once we have our minds made up we'll be keeping it to ourselves til bubs is born and named.

Ladies this is quite delicate but has anyone experienced really sore/ swollen lady bits after sex? Our regularity has taken a proper hit as I basically just can't be bothered as much at the moment so it's been a few weeks but we had a bit of a "cuddle" this morning and i've been in pain all day, I know it's nothing to do with baby, more like the walls/ vulva areas are swollen. I'm smiling writing this cause it is quite funny and DH is joking that it's just a job well done (!!) but honestly is been that kind of funny pain today.

Well that's all from me- name dilemmas and swollen lady bits, this pregnancy lark is hilarious!!

mintedd, swollen labia apparently is quite normal because of the blood increase, I asked my dr two days ago because I am quite ucomfortable, she said it is normal as long as there is no sudden increase of discharge, smell and itchiness. I was freaking out when I was drying after the shower the other day. I guess it is worse after sex because it also increases the blood in the area?

I do, some days baby just doesn't stop moving and some days I almost don't feel him at all (decided to call it him for some reason, we don't know what it is though!).
I think some days if I'm on my feet a lot it lulls him to sleep and he doesn't move much, and others - if he's moved into a funny position - while he is still moving they are either where I can't feel them (into my placenta) or I really have to concentrate to feel them. If you are worried try the cold drink and lie on your side trick although mine seems unaffected by this option :)

I went to Mothercare and Babies R US to have a quick look at moses baskets, but did not see anything we liked at the price we wanted. I will have a look at Boots again, if not maybe Argos. Has anyone bought an Argos moses? How is the quality?

We were looking at them the other day. I wasn't impressed by the BabiesRUs or Mothercare baskets (unless they were over £70, but I don't have that kind of money to waste!). We were just going to get the cotbed, but then I decided I wanted somewhere to lay her down during the day in the living room, so I only wanted something cheap. I got the Argos deal with their basic moses basket, and when buying that you get £10 off the rocking stand. Stand and basket came in together at £41 I think. The mattress isn't the best, but for the price I'm happy with it. If it doesn't seem that great once its in use then I'll just buy a new one. The actual basket seems as sturdy as any though.

Happy due date sexymouse :) and labour vibes to you and all the boldies.

Rups are you 28 weeks yet? Remember not to count the movement until you get to that point. And it is normal to have quiet days anyway even once you get to 28 weeks as long as you get your 10 movements. You seem to have got back to worrying a lot more again lately, hope you can start to feel more positive again soon.

minted that's lovely that your DD is so interested and reading stories. My DD who's 8 wants to push the buggy round the park and is getting a bit excited. My son (6) won't show any interest though and won't even speak about the idea of baby coming. I'm hoping he gets a bit more interested once she's finally here.

Well it's our last weekend day as a family of 4 - it seems strange to say that! We're off to soft play, park (if the weather holds) and a meal to give the kids a nice day out before baby comes. I managed a grand total of one hours sleep last night, so I'll be getting a hot chocolate and big muffin to keep me awake.

    Morning all!

Yay I'm a boldie! Slept fairly well last night (no signs at all of anything labour-wise apart from the usual low-level period pains - his head is still not in my pelvis though). I put a folded towel under my fitted sheet on my side of the bed last night just in case my waters broke in bed, and it made the bed nice and cosy - it was like sleeping on a cushion, so I was quite comfy. Thanks to the ladies on FB who suggested this over the absorbent plastic-backed nappy mats that probably would've crinkled and made me sweaty.

Plan for today is to do the food shop at Sainsbugs with Moon - haven't got a lot else planned and it's pouring with rain here at the moment (think the bad weather is meant to continue for at least the next couple of days).

Just off to catch up on FB before having my breakfast.

Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes where appropriate.

  • Yay Sexymouse! Welcome to the boldies club! Yep, I am in the same boat as you re induction/apin relief/water birth etc - your reasons are the exact same reasons that I have for these choices so I am gutted that it looks like I will be induced tomorrow but on the other hand I personally don't think that I would cope very well going day-by-day still waiting for baby to put in an appearance! O i snow off work for four weeks so I want him to have as much time with baby as well, so LO needs to come out! Fingers crossed that you feel ok though and LO comes along of his own accord.

My gran decided to call at 8.20am this morning; I didn't answer the phone (I screen all calls on the landline anyway) but it woke me up so I was less than impressed! Had a very broken nigts sleep and finally got up about half three when couldn't drop back off. Managed to watch three full episodes of the inbetweeners before I fell back to sleep on the sofa (it's a very comfy sofa, lol!)

Planning another lazy day today; finished of fmaking the lasagne yesterday and have put them in the freezer with the soup. Might make some tomato soup to eat today and make sure that I have got extra snacks packed for tomorrow (for OH cos could be a long day). OH nipped to his nans yesterday and told her that we would go round for lunch today! Er, no, that will no tbe happening! I love his nan, she is great, but I really do feel like the proverbial beached whale and clothes are uncomfy at the mo so I really don't want to have to make the effort to get dressed properly! Plus, other members of his family will be there and whilst they all mean well I know all I will get is "Well, it will all be over tomorrow!" "Are you nervous about tomorrow?" "Look how big your belly is now" and general other comments which serve no purpose to make me actually feel better, lol.

I know a few of you were talking about maternity clothes; I had the same problem. I bought some mamas and papas stuff thinking that they would see me through to the end - one of the pairs of trousers that I bought I couldn't fit in anymore at five months! It was ridiculous, and although bump has obviously got bigger i have not piled weight on so I can't say that that is the cause! I have a clever mum who managed to adapt some of the jeans that I had bought - she cut away the front section and put in a 'pouch' so that there was more give around the bump and at the top of the groin area where my jeans were starting to dig in. I managed to wear these right up until a week or so ago then so that kept my sanity! Leggings are great but even at this stage they are now uncomfortable (41+4). For me, ebay was the best place to look for stuff and New Look do have some good maternity things that don't cost the earth.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday! PS, anyone heard anything from Twinklie? Was she being induced on Friday or have I dreamt that? x
