Omg, I'm number 1!!! You are all gonna start bloody queue jumping now aren't you? I didn't think I would ever be number 1 for some reason, feels a bit weird. Can't decide if I'm terrified, excited or just plain fed up. Lol.

Hi everyone. Labour vibes to those that want/need them.

My two BFs had their babies! Yeah! One yesterday and one this morning. Both girls and biggies at 8 lb 11 oz and 9 lb 11 oz! Big first babies. Both more than a week overdue. I can't wait to see them.

Both are in the same hospital and the friend who had the baby yesterday said she wants me to visit today. Visiting is at 3pm, but the other friend will be on the same ward and only had her baby this morning. I don't want her to feel I'm visiting too soon, but equally I can't walk past her bed and ignore her! I have presents for both. Not sure what to do.
  • Hi ladies, unusal for me to post twice in one day!

But im wondering if any of you have any suggestions re a travel system? There are so many im just getting confused! Looking for a package with everything in for around £300 absolute max £400 to include car seat and base etc. Found the hauck condor 11 mickey set which does that, but the only thing is that it doesnt have a base.

Is it safer to have a base? If its just ease im not to worried as will only be in car at weekends (i dont drive).

Im just not sure! Any ideas or suggestions i can look at would be great thank you!

I would pop your head round the curtain, give her a hug and her pressie and explain you there to see xxx but couldnt ignore her.

(Also maybe offer to sit with baby while she has a toilet break/ freshen up - all my visitors came together and i was too worried to leave baby on his own so sat bursting :o or rushing the trip and feeling uncomfortable !)

I was thinking of texting her and saying I will be visiting other friend and was going to give something for her to the midwife, as I'm sure she won't be ready to see anyone. If she says to call in and see her then I will, then otherwise just leave the present for her.

What do you think? She is my closest friend and we've been friends for 21 years, but she has a very close family and two sisters. I just don't want her to think I'm overstepping the mark.

Thanks Mlbarrett. how is the thesis going? I so know the pain of that. i did mine years ago and i actually cried.

To be honest, I've hated it for a long time now, Rups. I should have finished years ago yet due to financial problems, supervisory changes and having suffered with some depression, it's dragged on for a long time. I've lost motivation and despite sending chapter drafts to my supervisor, she's not had time to read anything for months as she's so busy, so I'm just trying to finish it and see what happens.

Have told uni that I'll give it in at the end of the month so it'll go in as it is. I know who my examiners will be (both lovely guys whom I have a good professional relationship with) so I'm not too worried about the viva. When viva time comes, I should be the size of a whale so maybe I'll get a little sympathy ;)

My supervisor told me once that she'd actually like to give birth multiple times rather than do a PhD again. Think I agree with her already and won't be experiencing birth until Dec.

    Hey Jenjen

We've been looking for a travel system too. We were given a new car seat but now we're thinking of a second car so I don't feel like I'll be stuck at home (hubby uses my car as he's currently supplying and waiting for a long term teaching cover/full time post).

Mum and I were eyeing up a lady's pram/pushchair in Ikea not long ago by Baby Merc. As far as I can see, they're mainly for sale via eBay and they have different styles which can come with car seats that fix onto the wheels. Have seen several people with them around Coventry and feedback on eBay seems pretty good so think we're going to go for one of these.
