Sorry haven't had much time to read back, but going to post anyway as otherwise I won't keep up with my aim of coming on at least once a day.
Congratulations to any new arrivals, sure there have been some since last week and welcome to all the new pregnant ladies - sorry names escape me right now.
This is my first day of maternity leave -yay! Not so yay is that I was wide awake at 6am, but at least I had a leisurely breakfast instead of rushing to work. I also managed to get a steriliser and 1 bottle off freecycle which are brand new - planning on BF but thought it would be sensible to have some just in case.
Had a bit of stress with midwives this morning, basically I have my 36 week appointment on Thursday and phoned to request that I see a qualified midwife rather than a student - I haven't seen the qualified one since 25 weeks and as this is the appointment where you talk birth plans etc I think that is a reasonable request. Well not according to the receptionist! Will just have to see when I get there and try to insist. OH is coming with me so hopefully he will back me up. I'm sure you guys will agree with me
Anyway off to read back now.....0 -
That's really not on Candycane - doctor's receptionists really annoy me sometimes! I'm sure a lot of them have delusions of grandeur! (Apologies if anyone on this thread is one.) I would want a proper midwife there too if I were discussing my birth plan.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

that's not on! I've seen plenty of student midwives but they've ALWAYS been supervised by a qualified one which is fine. Yay for mat leave though :T At least now you have enough time on your hands to be a pain in the bum and refuse to leave the surgery until you see someone qualified if you're not happy on Thursday0 -
That was me yesterday. Only I had to keep hitting the floor with a lightsabre to get DH's attention as he was downstairs on the sofa!
Carrie - hope you're feeling better soon. It's nice to have someone due the same dayI don't know anything about the platelets but I hope someone who comes along will. I usually try and stay away from google as anything I look up I end up worried by the results.
Lol luckily he wasn't too far from me so I just hit him with an empty pop bottle till he woke up lol. If I'm downstairs and he's upstairs though I'm !!!!!!ed and he never takes his phone up with him. I'm hoping that when baby is out I can walk properly again. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I thought the students were always supposed to have fully trained midwives in with them? xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Thanks sexymouse, colli and ikkle. The actual midwife is lovely and she is there on site so I reckon it will be fine, just a pain if she is seeing someone else at the time. I found this out 2 minutes after the phonecall which said the pram delivery is delayed by at least a week (next week hopefully) and then the fact the birth centre moved my appointment to look round.
Actually, having written all that I am surprisingly calm. Yoga tonight will only help the relaxation more I hope0 -
Can anyone else who's had an epidural say whether they were allowed to eat or not? Just wondering if the policy differs depending on what hospital you are in.
If you have an epidural, you're on a drip with a catheter as it's important to monitor your fluid levels. Hence you don't need to drink. AFAIK that means you can't eat either. I didn't have an epidural for pain relief; I had a spinal block for forceps/c-section instead. So by that point, eating and drinking's the last thing on your mind"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

hi just a question did anyone have issues with dairy and meat earlier in pregnancy? I'm 14 weeks at the moment and cant eat either without being sick, but I'm not sure if its worth a doctors visit or just talk to the MW in a couple of weeks?
I went right off dairy early in my pregnancy, milk and yoghurts tasted rotten to me even when they were brand new from the shop. I'm still not great now if they're even slightly on the turn, so I keep throwing milk awayLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160
