  • rjh - i thought you would have gone into labour by now with all your BHs - i bet you are getting well frustrated!

    fox - is my surname

my boys names were Niall and Logan - opted for Niall in the end as i wanted an irish name. my dad is from northern ireland and i have loads of relatives over there, feels like a second home for me. i dont know any Nialls here in Peterborough so he should stand out in a crowd. also really wanted an irish name as i lost my irish maiden name (Quigley) which i really loved.

i used tens in early labour and found it really helpful - each to their own

i found my earplugs really useful as i stayed in 7 nights altogether on a ward with 3 other women with screaming babies. also useful in the daytime when hubby would watch niall and i would put them in to get some sleep - visiting hours can be very noisy!

towels - no one told me you needed your own!

really recommend having some time to yourself with no visitors after birth, i had my c - section 7.07am on the sat and we started telling people from 9am the next day.

wonder how divorcing jack is getting on - good on you ladies for sticking to your guns re holding off from induction as their is a lot of pressure from the medical profession. if you go over 42 weeks they can give you and baby monitoring to ensure you are both ok.

i suppose i will be moving over to the newborn thread......will miss you ladies, hope to see you over their soon.

off to order food shop online

Feeling proud of myself - managed to get my tower fan this afternoon and assembled it myself - good job it worked as I was dripping afterwards as it was quite heavy and awkward putting all of the screws in to attach the base. Ok, so it wasn't the biggest job, but I still did it on my own. ;)

Wow - can't believe I've jumped 2 places since yesterday. Getting close now!

Bought a pair of fitted cotbed sheets from Matalan whilst I was getting the fan as it's nearby, as these were recommended as being softer than the supermarket ones on the newborn thread the other day. They're a tiny bit more expensive than Asda at the moment (£9) but not too bad.

Talking of Asda has anyone heard any more about the baby event? We're getting very close to the end of August and I'm getting impatient now.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

*sigh* I think I need to re-think my hospital bag. Ive been really stubborn and only packed for an 'in and out' labour but hearing alot of you having to stay over night....3 days/7days I think I need to be more realistic......

I guess I just really didn't want to stay over night :(
People don't know what they want until you show them.

    Yes Jedi I'm
Very fed up. I honestly would have expected something by now. My problem
ATM is if they leave me a full two weeks for induction then it takes a couple of days like it for with dd is that she starts school then a possible two three days after I give birth which is not ideal and I dot want to miss her first day at school. I'm hoping if they check me at my appointment Wednesday they might see my cervix has done something. Probably not know my luck lol!
love you lots like jelly tots :o

be positive and pack for a night - as long as the hospital isnt too far away from you, your other half can go and get you extra stuff if needed.

  • Jedi great to here from you :-) how are you both getting on? Great idea about telling people. I'm hoping depending on time of day and how bubba arrives that we might be able to have some time on our own with bubs.
If you're going over to the newborn don't forget to pop in and say hi. But I'm sure we'll see you on the Facebook group :)
Kayalana I'm packing a bag for an in and out job plus enough like an extra nightie/toiletries incase i give birth late in the day and stay overnight. But I'm packing a suitcase with enough for an extra couple of nights as a backup that OH or anyone can grab and bring.
Sexymouse well done on the fan :-)
Towel my sister has given me a large black one that she had with her two kids. Dark colour is best lol.

Hope people aren't melting I'm sat in front of my friends fan so haven't melted......yet :)

  • for those of you who buy ecover laudry detergent its on offer in tesco at £3.50 rather than £5!

also buy sleepsuits with the inbuilt fold over scratch mits as Niall just throws his mitts off (sainsburys definately do these)
even though Niall was 9lbs he still fits in some newborn clothes. its like adult clothes different shops come up in different sizes

ok i really must stop posting here

also cotton wool and water worked fine for cleaning nialls bum (although his poos were quite runny poss down to the antibiotics he was on) i just used pleat cotton wool about 88p from wilkinsons, if you wet it well it doesnt stick to babys bum

i am sure all of you ladies will love getting your little ones. its such an amazing thing :D

i am doing fine - its a week since my surgery and i feel very good. first few days after surgery were a bit sore but got better from there onwards - just sleep deprived only got baout 2 -4 hours sleep at the hospital, i am getting a bit more now i am at home and taking an hour nap in the afternoon.

Niall is doing fabulous you would never have thought he was an ill boy a few days ago. he had slight janudice as well not enough for treatment but that has completely gone as well :)

I remember my last induction and I was so glad to have earplugs, as I was in 2 nights being induced before I had a section and then 3 nights after the section. I wish I had a hot water bottle for my back as I had bad period pains and the paracetomol and codeine wore off and they wouldn't give me anything else.

The breast feeding cups I ordered arrived. They are 5 individually wrapped sterile cups with ml measure on the side. I wish I'd had them last time. I put 3 in my hospital bag and gave BF 2 as she's due in 2 weeks.
