Weird question now... does anybody know if you can use the carrycot in the car? is there a way to secure it..even with adaptors?

Thank you for this Dizsiebubba. I will need to do a bit more research before asking so many silly questions.

    Ikkle

    Afternoon All,

    Congratulations Jedi x

pleased you have come to join us jwil and welcome

I have had such a busy week i will be glad of a rest next wk, so many visitors and people wanting to see or speak to me. I think everyone is trying to get the pre baby visits in all at the same time.

I saw the midwife today 37 +4 and im still 3/5 engaged but babys back and bum has moved from my left to my right side which is apparently the correct position in prep for labour. The mw did say not to worry as they can stay comfy for a good couple of wks in the right place before deciding to come.

Have a family wedding to go to tomorrow and the car needs some last minute repair(nothing major) on monday so just need to hang on until after that at least.

Hope everyone is having a good day and is looking forward to the wkend x

    Hey ladies

Just to update you that i gave birth to Niall Daniel Fox by emergency c-section due to failure to progress (dilate) on 11th August 2012 7.07am, he weighed 9lbs :)

I wont post a long birth story as it is not very positive, basically my waters broke but i did not get any contractions, we waited for 56 hours to give it a chance to start naturally but didnt, as they found strep B infection in my vagina (carried by a quarter of the population but as waters had broke could have infected baby) we had to weigh up the risk of infection to the baby. so we therefore went through the whole cascade of interventions, from pessaries, ending up on drip then taken for a c section as didnt dilate past 8 cms.

only just got out of hospital yesterday as Niall was having problems feeding. in the end we have managed to get him breastfeeding with the use of a nipple sheild. we are both doing well.

    Laura

Congrats Laura, If our DD was a DS she would have been Niall (and I had a c-section due to failure to progress and ended up using a nipple shield for BF due to latching on problems.

Glad you have him home safe and love the name.

Dizsiebubba, thank you for your reply. So I DO need a carrycot :(. I thought the maxi cosi one would be OK even for going out for more than 2 hours.

bikelesschick Thank you for the info. How long are you going to use the carrycot? Few weeks or months? Sorry for the dumb questions but I have not idea what to expect...

Tattoo I bought my first maternity jeans around 14-15 weeks.

Aida our pram (Uppababy Vista) comes with a carrycot unit and we were told it should last up to 6 months as it's quite large. The seat unit is only suitable from 6 months, so not sure what we'd do if they outgrow the carrycot before then! We're planning to use it as a travel cot as well, as it's suitable for overnight sleeping. One less thing to take with us when visiting relatives.

Dizsie I don't think carrycots are considered suitable for use in cars any more (although they were used that way when I was a little one!) as baby isn't strapped in etc. DH's mum is always going on about what they had when he was born and saying that we don't need one of "those fancy new carseats" just put the carrycot from the pram on the back seat  as it's what they did 30 years ago. *rolls eyes* the world has moved on since 1982!

  • Hi ladies,

My best friend is in labour and looks like she'll have a baby before teatime today! I'd text saying my money was on 2.20am tomorrow her oh phoned to say midwife was saying more likely 2.20 this afternoon! It may have happened!! So so excited!!

Anyway just popping in to say that phase eight dress is stunning sarara! Absolutely gutted they don't have the 16 now as I have a wedding and a 60th wedding anniversary in October and it would have been perfect. My search continues!

Congratulations to Laura, labour vibes to boldies and hugs to all.

No word of a lie, I used to lie on the parcel shelf in my Grandad's car. But that was in the 70s when things were so much more fun.
