Carrie I like Maddie best. That was one I really liked, but DH hates Madeleine, and I only like it as a shortening rather than an actual name, so I won't go for it.
LMM - Glad your hand is finally getting better. It must have been driving you crazy!Cross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
I was just going to say the same thing to cake4brains - I wonder if the hot weather makes our babies more sleepy? I still get movements but not as active as before and it tends to be her moving into a different position rather than kicking.
diszie - ok here's the list, although I've forgotten a few (it's on DH's laptop) these are our favs so far;
Lara, Leila, Lana, Lyra, Lila (can you see a pattern? lol)
Keira, Sophia, Cailtlin, Maddie (could be Madeline or Madison), Polly and Ella-Mae
We want something a little bit different but not too weird!
Girls names are hard for me as I am a Brown Owl so I have to write lots of names off for they remind me of them too much!!!
Sophia was one of our girls names but it would have been spelt Sofia instead.
I like Leila too I think it is lovely but again I would have spelt it Layla.
Have you thought about Lilia? It goes with your theme and isn’t very common x:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -
Lilia is really pretty, I like that! I do find the spelling's difficult, I think when we get down to the final two or three then I'll have to see what's the most common spelling and go with that. You might be right Layla is probably an better spelling than Leila.Team pink due 5th Oct '12 :T0

I also like Lola ...but then I don't watch Eastenders so the only association I have with the name is 'L-L-L-L-Lola' and I loved Dolly until brains of britain chose it!!:jBaby Boy born December 20120

Morning all, congrats Gilly
love the name too
hope your both doing very well
Well a funny night last night, we had a practise run to the hospital and realised how far away it is from our house! plus DH got lost once lol. I was about to go to bed so nipped to the loo and noticed something poking out slightly down there! so i phoned the midwife and she told me to come into the hosiptal delivery unit. Everythings ok, apparently is the lining of my virgina (sorry if this is too much info!) and it can happen if you've already had a baby which i havnt, she sent me home telling me to do lots of pelvic floor exercises, just wondered if anyone had had this happen before? had a chance to look around the delivery ward, its lovelycan't believe how nice the rooms are!

Hi everyone, sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here with my birth story! Here it is...
I started getting contractions in the early hours of Tuesday morning (last week) so we went to the hospital as they were really painful. We got there and I was examined and only 1cm! Was heartbroken! We were told to go back home and come back when I'm sweating and climbing the walls! Well all of Tuesday I was timing my contractions and nothing was regular. This continued all of Wednesday and they got stronger and more painful but not regular like they say. I tried all different positions to get it going more and at 2.30am early Thursday morning I said enough was enough so we went back to the hospital again. I thought my waters had broken the day before and were trickling but if you've never had it before, you don't know do you. We got there and I went to the loo for the nurse and then my waters popped! Oh man I was leaking everywhere! She examined me and said I was only 2cm dilated!! I was gutted! She looked at my notes and said it was 50/50 whether they kept me in and put me on the pre-labour ward. Luckily they did. So hubby was sent away as they settled me in and bless him he sat in the car from 5am until visiting hours opened at 10.30am.
So I was stuck in the hospital bed, hooked up to a machine measuring the baby's heartbeat and my contractions. Again, they were quite strong (I requested painkillers and was given a couple of codeine) but not enough to warrant any action. However, they said as I *thought* my waters had broken the day before (looking back, I don't think they had, it was just lots of mucus, sorry if TMI) they would be inducing me after the midwives handed over that afternoon.
I was gutted as I'd wanted a natural birth. However, I'd had 2 days of pain and no sleep and if they were going to induce me, I would have an epidural. I made my peace with it.
So she told me all this, then told me to change my pad (leak-o-rama). DH walked me to the toilet. I went in there, sat down and had this massive urge to push!!!! I didn't know what to do!! I pulled the emergency cord -- nothing. I pulled it again and yanked it off the wall! I was moaning and calling out and luckily hubby heard me and called the midwives who came running in, saw what was happening and told OH to get in there with me! They came in with a crash bag as they didn't know if there was a labour room free! I didn't want to sit on the wheelchair as it felt like I would squash the baby but they assured me I wouldn't and they padded me with lots of towels.
So they put me in the tiniest labour room -- my feet were practically touching the walls opposite! I was all over the place -- I'd decided I was going to have pain relief for goodness sake! Well there was no time for any of that -- not even gas and air. Daniel William was born 50 minutes later at 2.30pm on Thursday 2nd August weighing 9lbs 6ozs. They told me next time to have a home birth!
It was an absolutely amazing experience and I will remember the moment when came out and they put him on my tummy forever. My first thoughts were -- he's huuuge!
I did tear which isn't surprising as it all happened so fast. I was allowed gas and air while they stitched me up so I didn't miss out on that experience!
We were probably in that room for about 2 hours before they moved us to the birthing unit for recovery. I had a nice shower while OH looked after baby and we just chilled out til he had to go at 10pm.
I did struggle to breastfeed. Daniel was trying so hard and so was I but we both needed to learn it. The midwives really helped him to latch on and I did manage it a few times but then he developed jaundice after we were home and the way they get rid of it is by super regular feeding and poo-ing, but jaundice makes babies sleepy and not want to feed! After breastfeeding for 48 hours, we made the decision to switch to formula as I couldn't handle the pressure of getting him to feed to get rid of the jaundice. It's made both of us much happier.
So we've been home a week now and we are trying to establish feed timings but he is keeping us on our toes! He's absolutely gorgeous though and I can't stop looking at him.
I wish you all well with your births, and I will be off to the Newborn thread when I have a few more minutes! Thanks to everyone for their support over the last few months x

Bufger - Congratulations on baby Rory.
Chrissy - Thank you for the birth story it is always great reading others experiences.
Finally got the car back last night but now have to pay the £150 for the work. Which is less than my original quote so not too bad but still money we don't really have especially as we have had a bill for £500 yesterday to fix our wall because the guys didn't get a proper spec and we have had escalating costs. We have told them previously that we are on one income with a baby on the way and can't just magic this money. We managed to pay £1100 a few months ago - where do they think we find this money. Our savings are now pretty much non existent just hoping my holiday pay this month will help to refill the pot a little.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500
