I have been "sweep" hunting - and so far - I cannot get one for love nor money!:( Word of advice girls - if you are offered one, snap it up - they are like gold dust in my area!

Tried doctor - she won't do one (as its not a clinical procedure but she bets 50p I will go into labour before the weekend anyway....??!!), hospital won't do one (as its not planned - I can go in on Monday to discuss my options.....errr...yes but Monday means I won't get a homebirth....and I want to try everything beforehand!) and have just left a message for a community midwife who I have never spoken to before to call me back!

Apparently we are entitled to "multiple" sweeps before induction is tried according to the NICE guidelines (my NCT leader pointed this out!) - but can I get one....???!!! I am prepared to travel the length of the county..... it is so frustrating!

Why do they make it so difficult?:(

Angie - we all started feeling off like that - look at this thread for reassurance - you will find that most of us started there....wondering what the heck we had done, terrified out of our minds at being pregnant (and we still wonder on this thread too!!!!). I started there at 4 weeks pregnant and am still here - now 11 days overdue!!!!!!!

That's so annoying Dida, I was admitted to hospital again last week and the consultant said it was okay for my community midwife to start doing them but people on other baby boards have said that CM can't do it before 40 weeks without a consultant's okay. However, as you're over, you should be able to get one. Just quote the NICE guidelines - I think some nurses at GP surgeries can do it, if they are trained in gynae.

My consultant has written in my notes that she wants the CMW to do a sweep at 39 weeks regardless of what she thinks so I will be having a sweep next Thursday at 39+2

When I was in the Mat Assessment Unit on Monday there was a lady who went in for a sweep because her CM wouldn't do it and the senior MW there did it for her

I have had one - and had some good signs but I think I need another just to get it kicked into gear (I have had a friend who had two and labour started after her second). I was told if the first was going to work, it would work before 48 hours was up - its now 73 hours later......(one midwife said I could have a second....but the one I saw on Tues - just booked me in for an induction and said I couldn't have a second - no reason why - cervix is open, I have started to dilate...

Just had the mw on the phone - maybe I am extremely hormonal - but now in floods of tears - I was told that they couldn't fit one in today as they were too busy but possibly could tomorrow depending on how busy they are but there is no guarantee

Why am I getting so worked up over this??? I am just so mixed up about stuff now!:(

Dida I would feel exactly the same as you in your position, especially as your heart is set on a home birth. I don't know what else to suggest other than to keep bugging them til they take you seriously and keep in mind that by whatever method, you will be meeting your baby soon xxx

2 people today have told me that my bump has dropped and they don't think I will make it to my due date :-O extremely panicky now! I'm not ready for this! I don't think she has dropped, but is it always obvious I don't know? How can you tell? I have midwife on Wednesday so hopefully she will tell me

Hi ladies - just adding myself to the list. Team yellow here. Both 12 & 20 week scans showed me as being a few days ahead (12+5 and 20+3) but as the dates were within a week, they're sticking by my LMP dates.

I've been lurking for a little while now, so thought I'd pop on to say hi.

Big hugs to you Dida and everyone else needing one. It's tough being overdue - much harder than you think. With any luck your babies will all be here soon.

I was discharged yesterday. Finally! Toby is doing really well and my health is improving heaps

Try and stay calm angie once the shock as worn off and it has sunk in you'll will realise what a blessing a baby is my baby wasn't planned I will have 2 under 2's when this baby comes, if anyone's got a problem then it's there problem not mine, as long as you and OH are happy thats what matters.

I'm feeling really bleurgh today my back and pelvis are hurting my legs feel super heavy and I'm really swollen down below TMI sorry ladies, my midwife said some ladies get this as its very vascular down there lol not painful or sore just uncomfortable, who said pregnancy wasn't glamorous ha xx

Yay Snozberry - hope you and Toby are both settling back in at home now

Dida - I say keep pestering them until they do a second sweep for you, you're entitled to it so keep pushing for it

It has just dawned on me that I will soon be number 4 on the list once all the boldies have gone...ahhhhh!
