In other news.... I have definatley got a bigger bum/thighs now. It's no longer a case of my trousers fitting with the zip undone, they're now tight by bum/thighs even then! :( And there I thought I was all neat and just getting bigger in bump/boobs! Time to continue the maternity clothes shopping, just wish I knew what the weather was playing at...

My collagues are having to get used to me wearing the same pair of trousers this week; they're the only thing I own suitable for this weather that still fits me! I think I'm going to have to go shopping this weekend. I'm on holiday in September so I will buy some summer-suitable clothes - and hope that I get some use out of them in the UK too :D

Just a positive to those who have to have a planned c-section. This means you can book a private side room in the maternity ward, as you know when your baby will be arriving. In my hospital it is about £30 per night I think. Totally worth it for the extra sleep you get. In the bays you are awake when your baby is awake and when anyone else's baby in your bay is awake. They seems to be booked in advance, so if you go into labour spontaneously, you usually can't get one.

This is one of the reasons I'm hoping for a natural birth as then I can use the birthing unit where you stay in the same room during and after labour and some even have pull down double beds so partners can stay.

I think little man has wriggled himself down further as I've been having an achey lower back and pressure in my bottom on and off.

I haven't weighed myself at all this pregnancy, I don't want to worry about it. I didn't weigh myself before either. I've always judged my weight on if I can fit in my clothes or not. I think I have got a lot heavier, but with the amount of sweets and cakes I've managed since being pregnant it's not too surprising!

I'm too hot as well, I can't cope with being outside at all. I took the kids to the park yesterday and only managed to stay there for 20 minutes, the sun made me feel so sick and lethargic. I feel like I moan whatever weather we have. The rubbish weather I was complaining about, and now I'm not liking the sun either. I just want nice and dry and about 20 degrees, that would be perfect :)

There is a midwife led unit in my hospital which is lovely. It's for natural births only, no doctors just midwives. You get your own large room with en-suite where you go when in established labour and stay until you leave with your baby.

It used to just offer gas and air, but my friend is 35 weeks pregnant and she has told me you can have diamorphine now. You can give birth in your bath in the en-suite if you like.

Thanks so much for all the advice and support everyone. The date I have for my induction is when I'm 40 + 12 so I will be nearly 2 weeks over. I have to go for a scan this morning so I think I will ask the nurses in the hospital for advice. I'm really hoping that the second sweep on Saturday works though.

They did tell us about induction in one of the NHS antenatal classes and I have read about it online, but I do think the midwife should have told me properly about the pros and cons instead of just handing me leaflets. I do think it's bad that for some of us the midwives we've had to deal with have not been forthcoming with information. The level/quality of care really does seem to vary. I feel like complaining after I've had my baby but if I have another child in the future I will probably end up seeing this woman again. I wonder if I could complain anonymously? It would make it difficult if she found out who made the complaint.

Anyway I'm trying to remain positive but I have to admit every day that goes by without the baby coming makes it harder. I am totally torn between wanting the baby out by a certain date, and wanting a natural birth. Hopefully I will get some good advice today.

    Love to all xx

Hope the scan goes well and you get some good info AMC. My midwife isn't the best either, but doesn't sound as bad as yours. If you had more children couldn't you ask for someone else? In my area they have a community team, and each serves certain GP practices. If you don't get on with the one at your GP's, you are allowed to have your antenatal appointments at any other surgery within the area, with an alternative midwife.

Yeah at ours you can have diamorphine or pethidine as well as gas and air. If you need an epidural you have to go down stairs to the labour ward.

They seem to presume cos this is my second that I know everything and I don't. All year boxes have been ticked in my notes saying I have been given advice on all sorts and I haven't and I didn't go into labour naturally with my first so I have no idea what to look out for apart from
What google tells me. I failed at breadtfeeding last time ad really want to give it a go this time but again have had no information. This baby is gonna pop out and I'm gonna have no idea what to do with him!
love you lots like jelly tots :o

My midwife didn't specifically tell me about the NHS antenatal classes that were available - she just said that there was a leaflet in the bounty pack she'd given me. We decided to go for NCT ones as they were in the evenings rather than on Saturdays when Moon works, but I didn't realise they also had a couple of evening classes. Luckily when I managed to find them online, I booked an active water birth class which is combined with a tour of the hospital, but even trying to find the classes on the website was tricky. A lot of the people at my NCT class didn't book early enough and couldn't get onto any of them. Midwife hasn't even mentioned a birth plan to me either.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
