I have been religiously using Bio Oil each day though. Not sure if it actually works, but it feels like I am doing something :)

I thought it had worked for me MV....until I got a mirror and looked "under bump" haha! But I think mine have only arrived in the last week or so as I have looked before and gloated to my OH how stretch mark free I was! Not any more!

I've gone through about 600ml of Bio-oil since pregnant as well - I feel like suing them!:rotfl:

I haven't used Bio Oil for stretch marks but I do swear by it for scars - I had 2 operations on my knee a couple of years ago and you can barely see my scar now. I would say its fab for reducing the redness and helping them to fade very quickly.

No scales in my house as well - hate the things!

Turned out DD's appointment wasn't for her cyst but her recurrent viral infections over the last 6 months, consultant thinks it may actually be allergic rhinitis so she's had bloods taken and has to go back in 10 weeks. She wanted us to pop into maternity as we were walking past, explained that we needed an appointment and she said 'Oh, can you not pretend to have one?' LOL, she'll just have to wait until Tuesday!

I've just picked my sister up from the airport, she's almost 16 weeks pregnant so 12 weeks behind me - this is her first and she already has a fab wee bump! We were talking about work and stuff and I suddenly realised I've only got 6 more weeks to work - that seems very close all of a sudden!

Hi ladies! Just back from a fab holiday and have read back but forgotten most things already....

Big congratulations to Lazywife and Highland Lass :j Great to hear more babies arriving safely and also exciting to see my name going up the list :)

Splank - sorry to hear what a time you've had of it, but it sounds good to have made it close to 36 weeks, and hopefully you will be cuddling your baby very soon this weekend! Keep us posted :)

IHateDida - snap! I have been using Bio Oil religiously (am on my third big bottle) as well as Palmer's Cocoa Butter massage lotion, and have just noticed a big fat stretch mark under the bump!! I'm not that bothered about it (trying not to be..) and I'm sure it won't be the last!

On weight gain... dippy I am like you in that I'm short and usually quite slim/light, so the extra weight gain feels really noticeable. Starting to find sleeping tricky and getting lots of back pain.

Had some really painful braxton hicks last week -usually it just feels like every goes tight, but this was so painful I nearly cried (and I'm not too bad with pain usually) and felt like I was going to pass out. Made me wonder how on earth I will cope in labour!

I'm 35 +5 today, and have finished work, woohoo!! I've got loads planned for the next couple of weeks so the baby needs to stay put.. BigBird all your talk of washing clothes makes me think I need to get a wriggle on and wash some bits and pieces. I have a mini hospital bag packed but not really 'complete' yet, must get to Matalan for some nighties this week.

Sorry for all the posts I haven't replied to - the thread seems to have moved really fast in the last week!

No topical treatment will prevent stretch marks. The damage is at a far lower level than these creams and oils can penetrate. Your chances of getting them depend solely on your type of skin - some people simply have more elastin and their skin can be stretched without damage more easily.

Once you do have them, the appearance can be marginally improved by applying something like bio-oil but studies have shown the differences to be minimal.

What fluffnutter said, stretch marks are genetic, your skin is either stretchy or it isn't.
I don't know if I have any yet, but I'm not bothered either way. She'd be worth it :)

    Morning,

    Hope everyone is ok.

Hi bella!! Sorry I've not been posting, just whinging about pregnancy and thought this was a better place for it lol. How are you getting on?

Unfortunately I was awake half the night having nightmares, so positively exhausted today! Hoping Roo will go to sleep soon so I can have a rest.

Advice please, just bent down to pick up a bit of paper from the floor sbd when I stood upright I was seeing stars!! Should I be worried, I'm exhausted today and have no energy and baby has been quiet.... Don't know if I'm just worrying for the sake of worrying...

ETA Ok lOoked on line and it's a head rush pregnancy thing from bending down. But baby is definitely quieter, but whether that's because I'm so knackered I don't know. Sods law I'll go into labour today when I've got no energy at all.

My LO was less active towards the end, I think it was because there was less room so it was more effort! Sod's law LO is resting during the day and she/he will be super active in the night, fingers crossed not though!

Helloooooo! Well, nothing for me today, zilch, not even a twinge. I have tried everything to get this baby out but it seems it won't budge.
Missymoo, I hope you're feeling a bit better. Try having a very cold drink or an ice lolly, that usually gets them moving, then if you're still not happy give your midwife a call.
I've been applying palmers cocoa butter every day. I know it won't stop stretchmarks and I've been lucky enough not to get any but I'm hoping it will help my skin spring back to its original state. It also makes me smell a lot like a bar of chocolate!! X
