Might nip into M&P tomorrow then and see what they have!
Spent the morning clearing out what will be tiny human's room in preparation for the decorating to start on Monday. OH is on a work's night out tonight so I'm happily chilling with a can of Irn Bru & 90210 on netflix.
Oh and my new boots arrived, I'm in love. I'm probably a good 5 years too old and 5 stone too heavy to be cool enough to wear them but why let that stop me?My Debt Free Diary

Hey everyone.
I'm not pregnant anymore (little one is now 5 months old!) but I wanted to say congrats to you all and I hope that your pregnancies go as smoothly as possible.
I'll try to pop in from time to time just incase I can be of assistance.

Hello there - popping over from the earlier thread again with a quick question about slapped cheek syndrome.
My LO has a strange rash on his cheeks, different to teething redness, with few if any spots elsewhere. I'm thinking/worried it could be slapped cheek syndrome. He's OK in himself other than this.
I'm 15+5 pregnant and obviously there's a risk to me (& babies) if this is the case. Does anyone know:
- should I try to get him diagnosed before I worry?
- should I contact the out of hours GP (with it being a bank holiday) to ask about a blood test for immunity, or just mention it to the midwife when I see her on Thursday?
I don't want to over-react, but also don't want to put the babies in danger by putting it off. The web just tells me to contact the GP/midwife if in contact, but I don't know if I definitely have been, or how quickly something would need to be done.
Does anyone have any experience of this?0 -
If it was slapped cheek he wouldn't be ok!!
He'd have a nasty sore throat, a dodgy tummy, headache and joint pain and rocketing temperature
You can ask to be checked just to be on the safe side if it will reassure you but children are usually quite unwell or have no symptoms at all.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I'm trying to focus on fixing this aching back that's been bugging me lately, so today I'm trying swimming again and next week I'm going for another massage. Can't stand another eight weeks of pain and really don't want to be taking painkillers in case I need them for the gallstone pain that flares occasionally.0

Just delurking to say that when DS1 had it the only symptom was the rash on his cheek. I only took him to the doctors cos I was so confused about how he could look like he'd been repeatedly slapped but claimed not to have been.
As for your own immunity, it depends on who you have regular contact with and what you do for a job. I'm a teacher so I'm immune to pretty much everything. I would phone nhs direct if you're worriedUpdating soon...0 -

Yes a work trip, but will probably take about 12 hours for him to get back?! So not holding out all that much hope of him making it if the baby comes early!
Just had a horrendous nose bleed, so bad that I was choking on it too. I've only ever had one before and that was when I was pregnant with Roo. Does anyone else suffer with nose bleeds in pregnancy? I really don't like them, they really make me jump!0 -

did they do bloods/saliva tests to confirm that was what it was? I simply wouldn't believe them if they were just going on a red cheek. Little children get red cheeks for all manner of reasons.. mine look like they have it if they get ketchup on their face.. it can take a few days for it to go down dependant on brand. DS used to look like an apple his face was so red on many occasions.
Around 30% of people have it and don't even know because there are no symptoms at all but it is a small percentage of people who aren't immune.
And I wouldn't phone NHS direct ever.. they will say 'go to the GP if you are concerned' because that is what they ALWAYS say.. complete waste of time service.. which is what any sensible person would advise. I phoned them a couple of times as research into their service.. and did what I was going to do anyway. As a pregnant woman you are better off phoning the midwife/antenatal ward about stuff like this and they will usually say come in now and do the bloods immediately rather than waiting 3 weeks for an appointment (as has been the case at my rubbish surgery!)LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
